Students from the Culinary Arts class and the Diversified Agriculture and Natural Resources class at River Bend Career and Technical Center recently came together to produce some fresh fall cider. Most of the apples were harvested from on-campus heirloom apple trees that have been brought back into production by the agriculture class over the past years. The culinary class set up the sanitizing stations and shared cutting skills with the agriculture students, while everyone took part in the grinding and pressing process. The two classes were visited by members of the “Watch Them Grow Preschool”, who stopped by to view the process, try their hand at grinding the apples and enjoying some of the fresh cider and donuts! In this photo, Diversified Agriculture student Lula Gage (Thetford Academy) is assisting a student from the preschool in cranking the cider press.

Our entire staff had the amazing opportunity to Lead and Grow together this past weekend at LEAD! Manchester. Such an amazing opportunity and time well spent with other teachers, directors and leaders from the upper valley!
