Rstistic Space Studio, Bradford, NH is closed.
Unfortunately we'll be selling the property and so the studio closed. I was hopeful we could make the property work as a rental but it is not to be. Thank you to those of you who were students. I wish the very best on your sewing journey.

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to let you know that I'm working on a new concept for class scheduling, crowdsourcing classes. What does that mean & why?

First things first, how did the idea of crowdsourcing a class come about? Well, I've had a number of people reach out telling me they'd love to take a class & they keep waiting for a date that works for them versus what I've put on the calendar. That's frustrating for them & me. Then, a few weeks ago I was contacted by a young woman who asked if I could schedule a Sewing 101 Crash Course for her & two of her friends (you know who you are!). They wanted to take a class but couldn't swing a weekend day to do it. She suggested two dates that worked for them, both were weekdays, we settled on a date & I scheduled it with them. It was a lightbulb moment! 💡

So why is this a lightbulb moment? It got me thinking about how I could offer classes you want on days that work for YOU. I’d have a list of classes & a calendar of dates when I could be available to teach. Then you could show your interest by clicking on a class & what day/s work for you. Please note that the more dates you select as being available to take a class, the greater the opportunity of us finding others to join in & get it scheduled.

When I have 3 or more people who say “X” day works, I’ll direct you to the website so you can register & I’ll schedule it.

I’m starting with a site called Doodle to gather interest. This is going to be a work in progress & hopefully this platform will work well. Again, the idea is to connect people who have similar class interests & date availability.

I have a broad range of classes but have just posted links to two to start (Sewing 101 Crash Course & Sewing 102 Lounge Pants). This may not be an easy task but, nothing ventured, nothing gained! Here are the two links:

A very successful Sewing 101 Crash Course today with 3 lovely students. They did a great job! I am working towards crowd sourcing classes. How does that work? Well, if there are at least 3 people who would like to learn X on a certain day I will schedule it. I am working on how to get it set up to collect interest so stay tuned.

Besides working on class content, I've made up another dress from one of my vintage patterns. This one is a Simplicity pattern from 1947. I will be taking a red handbag to JoAnn's in an attempt to find fabric to cover a belt (to replace the silly fabric pinned on at present.

If you, or anyone you know, has any old patterns I'd love to save/resurrect them! There is so much to be learned and savored from the past.

Let’s get you sewing! Here are the upcoming sewing classes at Rtistic Space Studio in Bradford. (Please note, I need a minimum of 3 students to hold a class, so ask your friends & family to join you)

Jan. 28th (Sun.) 9am – Noon – Sew Help Me! Clinic - a 3-hour bring any project you need help with or just come start a new project, with guidance if needed. You can even bring your machine in, with the manual & a spool of thread, & practice.

Feb. 3rd (Sun.) 9am-3pm – Sewing 101 Crash Course – Let’s get that machine out of the box! You WILL leave knowing how to use your machine & have a reusable tote as proof.

Feb. 4th (Sun.) 9am – Noon – Fleece Headbands & Hats – super easy, quick to make, two great variations of each. These make perfect gifts. Good for beginners.

Feb. 8th (Thrs.) 6pm – 8:30pm – Let’s Fix This – A demo class where you learn how to sew a button, so it won't fall off, hem a pair of pants by hand & machine, ideas for patching holes creatively & more. Bring a needle, a scrap piece of fabric, a button & some thread. Also, feel free to bring in an item & I'll address how to approach the repair.

Feb. 17th (Sat.) 9am – 3pm - Sewing 102 The Lounge Pant – learn how to make a super comfy pair of lounge pants w/pockets & a drawstring. You can make these for everyone!

Feb. 18th (Sun.) 9am – 1pm – Buttonhole Basics - Buttonholes don't have to be scary. Learn how to sew a buttonhole, how to stabilize the fabric, how to position buttonholes, vertical or horizontal, & more. You'll practice, practice, & practice so more, & leave class with confidence to make an item with buttonholes.

Feb. 25th (Sun.) 9am – Noon - Sew Help Me! Clinic - a 3-hour bring any project you need help with or just come start a new project, with guidance if needed. You can even bring your machine in, with the manual & a spool of thread, & practice.

More classes will be posted soon – Toddler romper or dress, Home Décor Pillows and a Zipper class.
