UTM Language Day was so fun!

We learned Latin dances, tried on traditional Japanese outfits, did Japanese calligraphy, made origami and played with traditional Japanese toys and musical instruments (Shamisen), made German Coat of Arms, spoke to current UTM students about travel to Germany, learned about travel abroad opportunities in college, and stuffed our faces in the dining hall.
I enjoyed having lunch with German, Japanese, and Spanish professors from the language department as well as the other attending high school teachers.
Most exciting was hearing my students' names announced as winners!! 🏆

Las Fallas Festival in Spain features ninots- satirical statues/figurines that reflect current politics or topics in society. Students created their own ninot, comprised a presentational writing to explain their project, and then presented to the class in Spanish. We voted on a favorite, then burned them along with our troubles and negative thoughts in a simulation of the event La Crema. Thanks to Kris Hardin for overseeing our fire event. 🔥
