District leadership spent time walking through BMU classrooms this week, and we left feeling deeply grateful. Seeing the welcoming environments our educators create and experiencing that incredible sense of belonging is inspiring. Our teachers bring high expectations and deep dedication to student learning every single day.

Because there is public attention surrounding recent news reports and contract negotiations, we want to address claims made in a recent press release and unfair labor practice filing directly. District Administration did not speak against ratifying the tentatively agreed contract. The School Board’s vote was an independent action taken under their legal authority as elected officials.

We care deeply about our educators, our students, and our community. Our focus remains where it belongs: supporting our teachers in the classroom, advocating for what they need to succeed, and ensuring our kids thrive.

OEEA and OESU Contract Negotiations are at an impasse. The board will be moving forward with a mediator to support a completed contract for teachers as soon as possible. We are deeply grateful for a successful start of the school year and everything teachers and staff do to meet the needs of students every day.
