“They said they didn’t have homework…”
And later… you find out they did.

Before assuming laziness, consider this:

Homework isn’t one task.
It’s a 5-step executive function cycle — and one broken step can derail everything.

1️⃣ Awareness (Was it written down?)
2️⃣ Clarity (Do they understand it?)
3️⃣ Planning (Did they schedule time?)
4️⃣ Doing (Focused work time)
5️⃣ Turning it in (Upload. Click submit. Hand it over.)

Most missing assignments happen at one specific step — not all of them.

✨ This week:
Look at one recent assignment and ask,
“Where did this get stuck?”

Pick just one step to strengthen.

👇 Which step will you try first? Drop the number in the comments.

The transition back after a holiday break can feel surprisingly hard 💛

Not because your child “forgot how to function”—
but because ADHD brains are adjusting to a lot at once:
• Routines shifting again
• Sleep getting back on track
• Academic expectations rising
• Time suddenly moving faster

Here’s the good news:
Your child doesn’t need a full overhaul.
They need a gentle reset that restores structure without overwhelm.

Think:
✔️ Fewer systems
✔️ Clear expectations
✔️ Support before pressure

This is how momentum rebuilds—calmly and sustainably.

Save this as a reminder: post-break struggles are a signal for support, not stress. DM me if you want help creating a reset that actually works.

A tiny gratitude habit can make a big difference for your teen. 🍂💛

As we head into Thanksgiving week, here’s a gentle reminder: gratitude isn’t just a holiday tradition. For teens with ADHD or ASD, it can be a daily grounding tool that helps them feel calmer, more confident, and more connected.

Here are a few simple ways to try it at home:

✨ Say one appreciation out loud
“It meant a lot that you checked in with me today.”

✨ Ask one small question
“What was one good thing from today?”

✨ Send a tiny thank-you text
“Thanks for helping me with that step.”

✨ Encourage small kindnesses
Holding the door, offering help, or giving a compliment.

✨ Create a short family ritual
A gratitude jar, one appreciation at dinner, or three good things before bed.

This week’s challenge:
Choose one tiny act of gratitude each day. Small steps grow the habit.

What’s one thing you’re grateful for today?

📉 Noticing the October Dip? 📈
You’re not imagining it—this is the time of year when many students hit a wall.
Motivation dips, missing assignments pile up, and momentum starts to fade.

The good news? It’s not too late to turn things around.

My Save the Semester coaching program helps teens and young adults with ADHD:
✅ See what they’re missing and create a realistic catch-up plan.
✅ Build a visual system to track what’s due, what’s coming up, and what to tackle first.
✅ Prioritize based on energy, importance, and urgency.
✅ Break big projects into doable steps to reduce stress and procrastination.
✅ Use ADHD-friendly systems to start and sustain focus.
✅ Balance school, activities, and downtime without burning out.
✅ Reflect weekly to celebrate wins and adjust what’s not working.
✅ Build smart study tools and exam prep plans for finals—without cramming.

If your teen is feeling the October Dip, this is the perfect time to rebuild structure, focus, and confidence.

💡 What if getting started didn’t have to feel so hard?
For many kids and teens with ADHD, starting is the hardest part.
It’s not about laziness — it’s about activation.

Their brain needs a little more support to “turn the ignition key” before they can get moving. Once they do, they’re often unstoppable 🚀
Here’s what helps the ADHD brain get started:

1️⃣ Notice what feels hard or unclear.
2️⃣ Regulate — take a breath, stretch, or reset before diving in.
3️⃣ Plan — make time visible:
✨ What am I doing?
✨ Where?
✨ When?
✨ For how long?
When students have a plan, overwhelm shrinks and confidence grows.

To make it easier, I created a simple Homework Strategy Plan — a visual tool to help your child know exactly what to do, where to do it, and how long it might take.

💬 Parents — what helps your teen get started when things feel overwhelming?

Kids thrive when the adults around them work as a team.

Parents, teachers, therapists, and coaches each bring something unique—but the real magic happens when we connect and collaborate.
🧩 Therapists help with mental health.
🧩 Coaches help students practice strategies day-to-day.
🧩 Teachers and schools notice patterns early and support in the classroom.
Together, we create consistency across home, school, and life.

✨ What’s ONE strategy you use (as a parent, teacher, or provider) to increase connection and collaboration for kids? Share it in the comments so we can all learn from each other!
Because no one can (or should) do this work alone—our kids need the whole team. 💙

🤯 AI and ADHD Teens—Helpful or Harmful?
Parents, if you’re feeling torn about AI... you’re not alone.
Is it a brain booster or just another distraction?
A shortcut—or a tool to help our kids actually shine?
After diving into new AI training, I wrote a short (4-minute!) blog post to help you explore:
✨ How AI can reduce executive function overload (without replacing real learning)
🚦 The clear DOs & DON’Ts of using AI with neurodivergent teens
🧠 A low-pressure experiment you can try together
💬 And why your connection—not tech—is still the most powerful support
Let’s use tech that works with their brains, not against them. ❤️

Summer can be restful and productive—without being overwhelming. ☀️🧠✨

If your teen or young adult has ADHD, you might be seeing some slippery habits creeping in—late nights, endless scrolling, zero structure. 😅

But it doesn’t have to be a full reset every fall. With a few simple systems in place, summer can be a bridge—not a backslide. 💪🏼🌉

📌 Try this:
✅ Set a summer goal (creative project? job? prep for fall?)
✅ Keep at least one routine going (like a morning reset)
✅ Maintain healthy screen boundaries 📵
✅ Practice a hard skill in a low-pressure way
✅ Use a calendar to track jobs, outings, and chill time 🗓️
✅ Tackle one organization project to clear the mental clutter 🧹

👊🏽 This week’s challenge:
Ask your teen 👉🏽 “What would you like to accomplish this summer?”
Then pick ONE strategy to support them with—and take just one small step.

✨ Progress over perfection. Summer habits matter.

💬 DM me if you want help building summer structure that sticks. I’m here to support you both!

📣 CELEBRATE THE SEMESTER WINS! 🎉
The school year is winding down, and now’s the perfect time to pause and celebrate your teen’s hard work — especially if they’ve been managing ADHD, executive function challenges, or school stress.

💬 I’ve heard students say:
➡️ “I didn’t think I could stay on top of assignments… now I’m using my calendar every week.”
➡️ “I’m proud of how I kept showing up — even when it was hard.”

Here’s what helped them succeed👇
🌱 Keeping an open mind
🔁 Staying consistent with small habits
🏆 Celebrating tiny wins
🧠 Being curious, not critical
💪 Shifting from “I can’t” to “I get to”

✨ This Week’s Challenge:
Tell your teen: “I’ve seen how much effort you’ve put in this semester. You’ve really grown.”
Even if the grades weren’t perfect — the growth is worth celebrating.

👏 Show them you notice. That you’re proud. That you’re walking this journey with them.
