I am proud to have served as the Frederick County Councilmember for District One for all three possible terms. Now, I hope to use my experience to benefit the members of Maryland’s Legislative District Four.

Today I am announcing my candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District Four to fight for more funding for the residents of the district.

I am proud to have served as the Frederick County Councilmember for District One for all three possible terms. Now, I hope to use my experience to benefit the members of Maryland’s District Four.

As delegate for District Four, I want to use my experience to bring residents’ tax dollars back to our district. The current members of the House of Delegates in District Four only brought $175,000 back to the district for Fiscal Year 2026. Comparatively, the members representing District Three brought back over $12 million.

Frederick County has several large projects coming up which will require state support to be realized, including a new high school in Brunswick. We need our state partners to do their share, and as your state delegate I hope to use my experience as a councilmember to ensure we’re getting the funding we need.

Traffic alert: A quarter-mile section of Alternate US 40 (Old National Pike) will be closed for roadway widening starting next week. The closure will be between Mt. Phillip Road and US 40 (West Patrick Street). The work is expected to be completed by early December, weather permitting. For more details, read the full traffic alert at the link below.

The County Council has no authority over FCPS policies.

It has been brought to my attention that my opponent in County Council District 1, John Distel, has sent out a negative ad incorrectly asserting that I could have prevented what was paid to the superintendent of FCPS to remove her from her job.

Unlike my opponent, I don’t have thousands of dollars from builders and developers to run ads like that (check out the campaign finance reports).

I also can’t respond in person because John Distel only showed up to one of the four forums we were invited to (he came to the Builders forum at Dutch’s Daughter). So, my only opportunity to respond publicly is in a letter to the editor.

The Board of Education is a separately elected body. The County Council has no authority over FCPS policies or the contract they make with the superintendent of FCPS.

Perhaps my opponent should learn what this job entails before running for office.

I have worked over the last eight years to improve many facets of our community at large but also focus on the smaller things like public parks and libraries.
