Petra Academy Petra Academy is the Gallatin Valley's oldest and only Pre-K through 12 Classical Christian school

Petra Academy is a classical and Christian school serving the greater Bozeman community with quality education for grades pre-school (K4) through twelve. Petra is accredited by the Association of Classical and Christian Schools (ACCS). Following the classical methodology of the Trivium, Petra recognizes three principle “schools” of instruction answering the cognitive development of elementary and

secondary students: the grammar school (K4-6), the dialectic school (7-9), and the rhetoric school (10-12). Whereas these names are suggestive of different methods of teaching, the goal of all three “schools” is to equip students with the tools of learning: students who think clearly, express themselves lucidly, and who cultivate a deepening aesthetic appreciation.

At the end of July, Upper School science teacher Jim Johnson and Dean of Students Eli Denison will be leading several Petra students and their dads on a four-day canoe trip through the Upper Missouri Breaks.

Yesterday, Mr. Denison took Mr. Parker out for a paddle on the lakes near the school to test out his new canoe!

Join us July 27-August 1 from 9:00 am-12:00 pm for Petra's Basketball Skills Camp! Led by Middle School Boys Basketball Coach, John Robertstad, this camp is open to boys and girls in grades 4-6 and is designed for players of all experience levels.

Throughout the week, players will build fundamental basketball skills, grow in confidence, enjoy friendly competition, and most importantly, have fun!

Petra’s 8th-grade class kicked off June with an unforgettable five-day trip to Washington, D.C.

The week included a Nationals game where the Marlins came out on top 7–3, a powerful visit to Arlington National Cemetery for the Changing of the Guard and a wreath-laying ceremony, and a tour of the U.S. Capitol where they even met Senator Steve Daines.

They also spent time at the National Gallery of Art, taking in works by Da Vinci, Monet, Rembrandt, and more, before heading out on meaningful day trips to Gettysburg and Fort McHenry.

We are so grateful for this fun and memorable capstone to an incredible 8th-grade year. As we celebrate these students, we're also inviting our community to join our 250 for 250 campaign.

Our goal is 250 donors by the end of July, giving any amount to help create the space needed for Petra's mission to thrive for generations to come.

Our 8th-grade students recently returned from their annual trip to Washington, D.C. This year was especially meaningful as they visited our nation's capital during America's 250th anniversary year.
