The mountains got up to a foot of heavy snow ❄️ over the weekend. Photo shows one of many natural avalanches that broke within this new snow this morning (5/9) at Bridger. Expect more avalanches, natural and human triggered, for a couple days as warm temperatures and sun ☀️ make the new snow wet and more unstable. Be extra thoughtful about snow stability if traveling around steep slopes 🏔 this week, and continue to carry avalanche rescue gear and practice safe travel strategies. ⛷ 🛷

A skier triggered an avalanche mid-slope on Saddle Peak in the Bridger Range early this afternoon (3/21). Thankfully the individual was able to ski out of the slide.

Slopes across the advisory area with recent drifts of wind-loaded snow are suspect. Treat slopes commonly loaded by the wind and near ridgelines with added caution.

If you enter avalanche terrain, hedge your bets by having a partner positioned in a safe location and avalanche rescue equipment in case something goes wrong.
