Dmitry Muratov will speak about freedom of speech, the Russia-Ukraine war and his experiences risking his life for journalistic integrity in the face of government opposition.
Carmen McSpadden, director of the MSU Leadership Institute, which is hosting the event, said this is an exciting opportunity for MSU and the Bozeman community to hear directly from Muratov, who raised $103.5 million to benefit Ukrainian child refugees by auctioning his Nobel medal.
“Even more inspiring is the bravery that earned him the honor – that is, his newspaper exposed billions of dollars of Russian government corruption, extrajudicial killings and human rights abuses,” McSpadden said.
Tickets to the MSU lecture are $8 for students and $18 for members of the public. Tickets are available at the Bobcat Ticket Office, ticketswest.com or montana.edu/leadership. Convenience fees apply for sales online or over the phone.

Montana State University Dance Marathon
Sunday, February 27, 2022 12:00pm - 6:00am Strand Union
We are a student organization that is committed to fulfilling the mission of Children's Miracle Networks through student- led philanthropy. On February 27th, we are hosting Montana's 4th Dance Marathon that will bring students and community members together for a fun event of dancing, community building, and awareness-raising for Shodair Hospital and the population they serve. CMNH Dance Marathons take place on over 350 campuses nationwide to benefit local hospitals, and it has inspired thousands to give time, energy, and money to important causes. Shodair serves youth battling mental illness and fighting genetic disorder, and we want to make a difference in their lives by helping the hospital create a supportive, friendly environment while improving the services they offer. Montana has the highest rate of su***de in the nation, genetic disorder is becoming more and more prevalent, and services in Montana are often limited to those in proximity to the hospital and those who can afford it. We believe that change starts with ordinary people like us, and we want to start somewhere, even if it's small, to make a difference.
