Strobel's Lab

Strobel's Lab Bio-prospecting of endophytic fungi and research of their valuable volatile organic compounds In Dr. Gary A.

Strobels lab we conduct research on the valuable volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by endophytic fungi. Endophytes are microorganisms that reside in virtually every plant without causing any apparent damage to the host plant while sharing a symbiotic relationship. These special forms of fungi can contribute to their host plant by producing VOCs that may provide protection against pathogen

s and other invasive microorganisms. Endophytes are sought for their diversity in chemical production because of the valuable VOCs and their applications in agriculture, medicine and industry.
