Lifelong dream fulfilled today! On this beautiful morning, I was the crossing guard at Hyalite Elementary! The gal with the sign!
I truly enjoyed seeing all the happy faces, greeting families, and ensuring kids arrived at school safely! If you have an extra 15 minutes in the morning, go help out at your neighborhood school! It is very rewarding! Hyalite Elementary, Bozeman MT

Not the best photo quality from the back, but an incredible surprise occurred today at Hyalite Elementary. Catherine Matthews believed she was going to a "Safety Assembly" when she was actually the guest of honor! Today, she was presented with the Montana's Teacher of the Year award. Congratulations, Catherine!

Hyalite Elementary is my school board liaison school. I had the opportunity to meet Catherine and watch her in action last week. I was very impressed by her! This recognition is incredible and I am so excited for her. Congrats, Catherine Matthews!
Congratulations Catherine Matthews - 2023 Montana Teacher of the Year! Catherine is a Preschool Special Education Teacher at Hyalite Elementary.

Welcome back to another school year! I hope everyone is off to a great start! Though it was a fun and relaxing summer, I also had some great opportunities to dive into school board work. Meetings, trainings, reading, and more... I continue to gain a new in-depth perspective of our district. I am continuously grateful for all the teachers and staff!
To create even more successful environments for our students, I want to remind everyone of an incredible volunteer opportunity. Project Connect is a great way to become active in the schools and have a direct impact on the lives of our students. Please reach out if you are interested!
Here is to another wonderful year!

Trustee Dee (for those who know me personally, a rhyming title is fitting)
I am as excited as the second picture portrays to proudly serve our district in this capacity! I was sworn in earlier this week and already had the opportunity to attend a luncheon at Hyalite School (thank you so much for having us). I am excited to get into each of the schools, meet more people, and see our outstanding educational programs in action (and the progress we are making with newly implemented programs). Thank you again to each of you for your support and for trusting me to take on this position!

I know it’ll take years of listening, asking questions, and engaging in conversations, but I’m excited to get the ball rolling! I had an Orientation on Monday and have more training opportunities in the following weeks. I’m excited and honored to serve our community! I’ll be sworn in this Monday the 16th. Thanks to each of you for your support!
