WHO ARE WE? The Institute for Human Neuroscience at Boys Town National Research Hospital is transforming brain research in children all the way through adulthood. The Institute works to extend the Boys Town’s mission and create a world-class research program to advance knowledge of cognitive neuroscience while applying this science to improve quality of life. Having the Institute directly on the B
oys Town campus means the research findings can be directly applied to improve treatments and help change the way America cares for children and families, everywhere. WHY WE STUDY THE BRAIN
Neuroscience research is critical because it helps us understand the diverse ways our brains respond and change throughout a person's life. By understanding how the brain develops in healthy individuals and comparing it to how the brain develops in individuals exposed to toxins, traumatic events, individuals with developmental disabilities or disease; we can find new ways to provide support and treatment personalized to meet their needs.
