We are thrilled to share our 2022-2023 teaching team for Forest Kindergarten, Forest School, and Field School! We've spent the past week together cooking up all kinds of curriculum and creative adventures for the children who will join us for their first days of school next week. We can't wait to begin!

Beautiful weekend for a Merrohawke family campout in our backyard, starting with a garden tour with Farmer Jeremy. Join us at our Annual Auction June 8, 2023, and maybe this could be your family next year! 💚☀️🌻☀️💚

And, of course, today we honor Willow, who spent most of her summer lounging on the engine box at BOAT CAMP, offering lots of hugs (and only sneaking a few nibbles of snacks left unattended).

Gratitude for this great crew who work so hard and ! Highest bid at our spring auction = a fun company outing on a summer’s day! See you at our Annual auction 6/8/23 and maybe your crew can join us next summer!

When former deckhands become dads, we get to take the next generation fishing on a beautiful summer morning. 💕🎣💕

As we wrap up the season for summer programs for 2022, we pause to express our gratitude for each and every one of our staff members who make our summers possible and successful. Here’s our staff enjoying donuts and coffee from to celebrate their hard work!!

A blustery day at Red Fox was well spent helping to harvest Goji berries in the Food Forest and working on projects during a pond sit spot.

It's Mola mola Monday! Children at BOAT CAMP were treated to a close encounter with an ocean sunfish while aboard the Erica Lee.

Final day of earth skills for the summer and we feasted! We harvested some milkweed pods and stuffed them with some pork seasoned with fennel, rosemary and sage from the garden, poblano peppers, onions and some feta cheese on top. We also cut up some squash and carrots from the garden to sauté in some honey vinaigrette. The salad we made two weeks ago made a reoccurrence as well! For desert we sliced open a watermelon with the Red Fox that was planted in the late spring by the forest kindergarteners! So much gratitude for all the hands that helped make this meal possible.

Great morning on the water with a beloved Merrohawke family who were the lucky highest bidders for a private family BOAT CAMP trip aboard the Erica Lee at our spring auction! Save the date—June 8, 2023 — and this could be your family next summer. ⚓️💚🦞🐟🎣🦀💙⚓️

August is here and so is the heat!!Gratitude for the constant pond breeze that helped to keep Red Fox cool on this hot summer day.

Harvest season has begun! Every week our staff and volunteers are gifted with fresh vegetables from the gardens.

While on our way out to the haddock grounds, BOAT CAMP children were treated to some hungry striped bass. This 41 inch fish was too big to keep, so we took a few pictures and released her.

Teen week at BOAT CAMP! This group tallied up the number of times they have attended and discovered they have a collective 71 years of experience at BOAT CAMP. That's a whole lot of sun, salt air and sea time!

07/23/2022

We love our teens! Summer would not be possible—or nearly as fun—without our big family of teens who apprentice and work so hard to make the magic of a Merrohawke summer experience for so many youth on land and at sea. 💚⚓️🌻💚

Another Friday of celebrating the plants in our food forest! Due to the high heat earth skills picked their own salad today instead of the usual stir fry. Today we gathered some kale, Malabar spinach (not a true spinach), purslane, nasturtium leaves and flowers, and some wood sorrel. Dressed with a apple cider vinaigrette. Thank you everyone who helped make this happen!

07/21/2022

This week at Red Fox, students have been feeling extra connected to their sit spots, returning to them everyday after our adventures. Enjoying a silent moment to themselves to relax, observe, listen and sink into the forest around them and of course befriending the tiniest of pine saplings!🌲❤️

07/21/2022

With soaring temperatures on land, BOAT CAMP children yesterday were treated to cool, calm waters many miles offshore while we searched for (and found!) haddock. Yum!

A little gardening to start our morning at Dragonflies… 🌻🌼🌸🌻

07/14/2022

Each afternoon at Red Fox, students are given time to work on projects such as whittling, yarn work and other creative interests like these two students working together to create some cording out of yarn. By communicating, collaborating, finding a rhythm and working together they were able to make something truly fun and useful!

Photos from Merrohawke's post 07/08/2022

Today at earth skills, with Jeremy’s guidance, our students walked through the food forest collecting things to add to their stir fry that they cooked over a fire that they built themselves. They had peppers, Egyptian walking onions, chives, some oregano, thyme, and rosemary. Add that to some hot dogs and it’s almost a full lunch! We also brewed some tea from the endless amount of herbs that are so abundant here at the farm. Thank you to the plants for offering us a fruitful bounty, and endless curiosities.

07/07/2022

This summer at Red Fox, students have been invited to spend their mornings in the gardens with Farmer Jeremy. Today students went on a smell journey through the Food Forest finding some new favorites such as chocolate mint, walking onion, oregano, sweet cicely and much more!!

Good morning from the food forest, where the peaches, poppies, berries, bee balm and black walnuts (and so much more) are all bursting forth in the summer sun. Wishing you all a beautiful holiday weekend!

It’s a little quiet here at the farm as we are in between the school year and summer, but Farmer Jeremy and Aaron have plenty to tend to, including isolated hand weeding around germinated seeds. Jeremy is tending to the “tedious” work, but is visited by toads, adolescent mantis, and more. As he works, he is uncovering eggplant behind hollyhock. We can’t wait for the children to return and see what’s growing!

06/13/2022

Another step closer to summer and BOAT CAMP, the F/V Erica Lee easily and successful passed her annual U.S. Coast Guard safety inspection. As a passenger vessel, this is an annual event that we look forward to and just one of many measures we take to make sure we can all have a safe and joyful summer!

06/02/2022

Now all we need is YOU! It’s not too late to buy a ticket to out annual fundraising auction benefit and join us tomorrow night!

Channeling our inner Clark Griswold, we’re rigging up the lights for this week’s live fundraising benefit auction on June 2! Got on our guest list yet? Be in touch! It’ll be a beautiful evening in support of growing youth strong by nature.

05/25/2022

The last week of school and this is how they prepare to leave the garden once the morning work is done… all together, some pushing, some pulling, some leading, some following, all moving forward as the sweet community of friends that they have become. May these mini moments of mutual support and practicing kindness and empathy be the skills that serve them well as they grow older into the world that awaits them. 💕
