The protocols we will be following are the exact same protocol and procedures all sports camp are following at Bowling Green. We want to assure you that we are following all rules, guidelines and recommendations given by the Pike County Health Department.
On the first day of the students camps, they will go through a mandatory (bandatory) presentation in which we will go over the procedures they must follow to ensure the safety of all of the students and band and color guard staff. They will be given a number of handouts to be taken home. They will have a liability release form that the student and a parent will have to sign in order for them to participate in the summer camps.
Every student and staff member will also go through a screening before they enter the facility. Each screening will be documented. The students will have to fill out a piece of paper and we will have to check their temperature. If their temperature is over 100, we will follow the protocols set forth by the school district.
Students are welcome to wear masks if they feel the need to. Band and color guard staff will be wearing masks while in close proximity of students.
I know we all could use a little dose of some normalcy. I know I am excited to get this marching season underway. Thanks for all of your support! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks!

Congratulations to Samantha Smith who was awarded 2nd chair Euphonium in the All District Band and Wyatt Houseworth who was awarded 3rd chair Alto Saxophone in the All District Band. Students that audition for All District Band usually start practicing the audition music before summer starts. Their auditions had to be submitted by January 4th. Samantha improved her chair placement by 4 chairs from last year and Wyatt improved his chair placement by 5 chairs from last year! Congratulations on this accomplishment! Your hard work has paid off.
This is just a reminder to the High School Band kids that tonight after the FB Game, there will be a Band Bonfire/Get-together at one of the band parents houses. We have flyers in the band room with more information. This is just a way to close out the remainder of the marching season in a weird year and also a way for us to celebrate and be proud of our accomplishments. This will be directly after the game. Please try to carpool and dress warm. THERE WILL BE FOOD PROVIDED! Hope to see everyone out there!
This is a few days late but I wanted to take the time to express how proud I am of the Bowling Green Band. Last Saturday, they competed in their last competition this year at the Mark Twain Marching Festival. They represented the school and the band very well. They were playing up to some stiff competition with 12 bands present. Nevertheless, they did their best. They placed 1st in Indoor Color Guard, 1st in Indoor Drumline, 3rd in Parade and 2nd in Field Show missing 1st by 1.25 points. They also won the Outstanding Music Caption Award for Field Show. It's a little weird to conclude the competitive portion of our marching season but nothing in 2020 is completely normal. I'm just glad that the band was able to compete in some capacity this year. We're already making plans for next marching season! This next marching season should be a big one for the band. Thanks to everyone who has shown their support. It really can't be done without the help of the BG Music Boosters and our awesome dedicated band parents. We have the best band parents around!
This is the Itinerary for the Mark Twain Marching Festival this Saturday October 3rd. I have also posted a menu of the concessions stand.
Congratulations to the Bowling Green Bobcat Band! They performed very well at the Wright City Marching Festival.
This is the breakdown of our placements:
Indoor Color Guard: 3rd
Indoor Percussion: 3rd
Field Show: 2nd
Outstanding Color Guard Caption Award
Outstanding Percussion Caption Award
Outstanding Visual Caption Award
Outstanding Music Caption Award
Once again, the kids did a fantastic job adapting to an interesting start to the day and making the best of the circumstances with the new procedures we have to follow at the festival competition and with our school. We were playing up to our competitors in some of the classes and did extremely well. I'm so glad we are able to at least compete this season in some capacity. Enjoy this moment because come Tuesday, it's back to the grind. Thanks again to the Music Boosters and our Band Parents! Thanks for getting the delicious food prepared for us once we returned from the competition. This day particularly was a group effort just to make sure we could even get there.
This is the Itinerary for Wright City tomorrow. Load bus at 7:55 am. Wear your Band shirt and Jeans and Marching Shoes. Bring your own water bottle.
Just a reminder that Bowling Greens Full Band Camp will be next week July 20-24 from 8-4. All Color Guard and Band Members should plan to attend. Letters have been mailed out. Refer to the letter if you have any questions. I would also like to send out a reminder that alumni are not allowed at band camp this year. I'm sorry. I love seeing all of the alumni during band camp. This is to help ensure the safety of the students and staff. Lunch will be provided. Parents may expect to be contacted to help serve and package up the lunches for that week. If you are able, please help if you can. You can message me if you are able to help and I will get your contact info to the music boosters who are providing all of the meals for the week.
We've had a very productive 3 weeks of camps throughout the summer so far. Hopefully we can continue that trend and have a safe, rewarding, and productive camp.
Students should plan to bring sunscreen, their own water bottle, and comfortable shoes.
Let me know if you have any questions!
