Join us for class with beloved BDC teacher Miranda next week on Tuesday, June 16. Miranda’s pop-up hip hop class serves as a placement audition for our oldest Company dancers & provides a chance to dance for everyone else including BDC/BGDT alumni (and all who love hip hop!)

Thank you parents, dancers, and BDC Staff for two awesome shows last night! We had a blast at our first Recreational Dance Program Recital and Company Solo/Duet/Trio Showcase. We are ready to do it again today! Addison is a recent graduate of Perrysburg High School. As a student at Perrysburg, Addison ran cross country for six years and track for five. She was a part of the theatre department all four years and is getting inducted as a thespian. Addison was in PHS's first Winter Spotlight Festival one act called “Worth Keeping” and in the musical production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as an ensemble member and Oompa Loompa. She also served as a member of the costume crew for Winter One Acts. Additionally, Addison was a member of Perrysburg’s was apart of our schools GSA club, Pride Club, and yearbook staff.

Addison started dancing at age 4. This is her 13th year at The Beat. When asked about her favorite memory of her time at The Beat, she says that she most enjoyed her stretching circle in jazz technique class this year and all of the conversations the class would get into. She says that dance has given her a sense of belonging and that she loves how she can be as weird as she wants around her class group (and how they match her energy!).

She offers the following advice to our younger students: “Keep working hard. It’ll pay off. Maybe not in the way you want it to but be patient.” She offers the following shoutouts to her support system: “I would like to thank my parents for taking time out of their days to take me to competitions and having to deal with me when I’m exhausted afterwards. I would also like to thank my class - Lia, Leah, Adyson, Rebecca, and both the Isabellas - for making this season awesome and making dance fun again when I was starting to burn out.”

Addison plans to attend Ohio University to major in theatre performance this fall. We have loved watching Addison grow up at The Beat and we’re so proud of her! Please join us in wishing her the best as she prepares to take the stage in our Season 18 Recital this afternoon.

Janie recently graduated with an honors diploma from Perrysburg High School. As a student at PHS, Janie kept very busy! She was on the Honor Roll for all 4 years and had a GPA above a 4.0. She studied French for five years and just recently earned the Seal of Biliteracy. She’s is a four-year member of PHS Pride Club where she served on the Executive Board her senior year. She’s been a member of Link Crew (helping incoming freshman) for two years. She has also earned her Varsity Letter on PHS Gymnastics Team all four years and was elected co-captain with teammate at both gymnastics and dance Abbi their senior year. Janie’s gymnastics team has won NLLs and NWOH Districts all four years she’s participated, and she earned 2026 NWOH District Individual Champion her senior year. Her team has competed at Ohio High School State Championship meet in Columbus all four years as well. In addition to dance and gymnastics, Janie has also participated in Perrysburg Cheer since 7th grade and won NLL championship three years at PHS.

Janie started dancing at age four, and she joined The Beat in 2014. She says that her all-time favorite memory from The Beat is from the summer of 2021 when her jazz group “Le Jazz Hot” made it into “The Big Show” finals at Nextstar nationals and then went on to win second overall. When asked what she’ll miss most about her time at The Beat, she says: “Besides absolutely everything, I think i will miss dance competitions the most. I loved having something to work toward, and getting to experience it with my best friends.”

Janie says that dance has influenced her life by giving her some of my closest friendships and helping her grow as a person. She says it has also taught her discipline, and the importance of teamwork. She tells our younger students: "Enjoy every moment because it goes by way faster than you think!”

She offers the following shoutouts to her support system: "I would like to thank all of my dance teachers for believing in, supporting and encouraging me over the years; my dance friends for all of the fun & funny memories that we’ve made together and my family for always supporting me and being my biggest cheerleaders."

Janie will attend Bowling Green State University in the fall where she plans to major in Business Analytics while being a part of the BGSU cheerleading team. Please join us in wishing Janie all the best as she prepares to take the stage one last time and embark on a new chapter!

Isabella is a recent graduate of Perrysburg High School. Isabella is a four-year member of the PHS Dance Team. In addition to keeping busy at The Beat and with PHS Dance Team, Isabella was involved at Toledo Ballet and Detroit Tap Repertory. She was also active at the Toledo Zoo as a Zoo Teen.

Isabella started dancing in 2009, and she joined The Beat in 2014. She says that her favorite dance memories were competing at DMI Nationals last summer and when our tap group "Baiao Destemperado" won first overall in senior groups at Revel this spring. She says that after graduation she will most miss getting together with people she loves and to dance as much as she does, almost every day.

She says that dance has helped her in many ways: “Through dance I have learned time management, and how work with people that are different then I am based on their age, background, friend groups, etc.” She offers the following advice to our younger dancers: “Enjoy your time dancing, there is nothing quite like dance and the lessons it teaches.”

She offers the following shoutouts to her support system: “I want to thank my mom for being the most amazing dance mom anyone could ever ask for. I want to thank my dad for driving me anywhere and everywhere for dance. I want to thank my grandma for always being there to support me. I want to thank Ariana for riding in my car with me, and for being a good person to chat with at competitions. And I want to thank Lily, for dancing with me, for being there, and for being the most amazing duet partner anyone has ever had.”

Isabella will attend the University of Findlay for pre-veterinary studies this fall. We have loved watching her grow up at The Beat and we’re so proud of her! Please join us in wishing Isabella the best as she prepares to dance in her last recital!

We are dancing for Dallas in our Season 18 Recital! Dallas is a 2nd generation Beat dancer who is currently battling B-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Dallas loves to dance and we cannot wait to have her back at The Beat! Morgan recently graduated from Otsego High School while also completing her Early Childhood Education program through Penta Career Center. Morgan says that her time at Penta was incredibly rewarding, allowing her to earn her Infant CDA (Child Development Associate) credential, complete work placement, and spend her senior year gaining valuable hands-on experience working at a daycare.

Morgan’s dance journey began in 2011, and she joined The Beat in 2022 as a high school freshman. Dance quickly became one of the most important parts of her life. Morgan says that some of her favorite memories at The Beat are the friendships she built, the laughter shared in every class, and the supportive environment that allowed her to work hard while still having fun. She adds: “The sense of community at The Beat is something I will always cherish. I will especially miss Ms. Jillian, who has been one of the most inspiring, supportive, and unforgettable teachers I’ve ever had. About 11 years ago, I suffered an ankle injury that significantly impacted my athletic abilities. A year and a half ago, I finally had surgery to correct it, though it still causes pain during physical activities. Despite these challenges, dance has always been my outlet—a place where I could regain control, push through limitations, and take pride in what I do. Dance has given me confidence, strength, and a true sense of self.”

When asked to offer advice to our younger students, Morgan says: “Always embrace who you are. Be unique, be funny, be weird, and never be afraid to stand out, because those are often the qualities people appreciate most.”

Morgan adds: “I am so grateful to all of the staff at The Beat for creating such a welcoming and encouraging environment for every dancer. A very special thank you to Ms. Jillian for being not only an incredible dance teacher but also one of the best mentors I’ve had throughout my journey.”

Morgan will attend Ohio University this fall where she plans to pursue a degree in Pre-Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She says she’s excited to continue following her passion for education and she look forward to making a positive impact on the lives of future students.
