BGSU Department of History The Department of History at Bowling Green State University We offer a range of Masters programs and certificates, including an M.A.T.

The Department of History is a community of scholars and students engaged in the creation and communication of knowledge about societies in the past and present. We serve 150 History majors and 365 minors, including teacher candidates in the Integrated Social Studies program. Through flexibility and variety in our plan of studies , we foster skills in independent research, analysis and communicati

on that are highly valued in the job market. Our internships and awards foster and recognize academic achievement, community work, and successful careers. Our graduate programs are recognized by the high quality of the education and the successful careers of our graduates [click here for placement info]. adapted to the demands of teachers in the northwest Ohio region. The Department has an active and foundational role in the field of policy history. Department faculty, alumni and current graduate students advance individually and collaboratively the research in policy history, by publishing monographs and articles of national and international repute, organizing ground-breaking conferences, and more recently by maintaining h-policy, a collection of online services for scholars in the field.

Tomorrow evening, come join Dr. Challú for some insights into the history of science, and a great show from BGSU Planetarium!

On Wednesday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. we continue the America 250 in the Planetarium Series with Dr. Amílcar Challú who will present a program titled "Navigating with the Stars in the Vast, Early Americas". I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July today. We hope you’ll join us in the Planetarium later this month to celebrate American discovery, innovation, and values through topics in astronomy, history, art, music, and more in this special nine-part series in the BGSU Planetarium. This America 250 in the Planetarium series of programs will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at 7:30 p.m. July 13 – 31. All America 250 in the Planetarium programs are free and open to the public. Our final Internship Spotlight this summer features reflections from one of our graduate students, Lochlyn Ramsey, who worked this spring at Fort Meigs: Ohio's War of 1812 Battlefield. His learning focused on land battles of the War, and he spent time splitting logs and reenacting throughout the spring.
