Plant-of-the-Day: Blue Chalk Stick Plant

Plant-of-the-Day: Golden Barrel Cactus.
The Golden Barrel cactus is a dessert plant found in Mexico. They are famous for their symmetrical round shape and golden color "thorns" which are actually evolved leaves that help to lock in moisture so the plant does not dry out in the hot environments. Plant-of-the-Day: Bird's Nest Fern.
The Bird's Nest Fern is a large fern whose's fronds can reach up to 3 feet long. It grows in the tropics and can be found commonly in Southeast Asia. It does not have roots, but rather a root-like structure called Rhizoids that are very fibrous. Bird's Nest Ferns typically grow on other plants such as palm trees. Plant-of-the-Day: Silver Nerve Plant.
The Silver Nerve Plant (Scientifice name: Fittonia verschaffeltii) is a small flowering plant native to South America. It does best in wet environments. It features lightly colored green leaves with bright white veins creating a visually appealing stain-glass-window effect. Plant-of-the-Day: Burro's Tail.
Burro's tail is a succulent plant that hangs in the dessert room of the BGSU greenhouse. It's very distinguishable amoung the other plants becuase of its long trailing shoots and beaded appearence. It does well in a relatively dry environment because of its waxy leaf coating that helps to lock in moisture. For this reason it makes a good and hearty house plant, providing a lush and tropical ambiance with minimal maintenance.
