In our Student Affairs in Higher Education graduate program, learning goes beyond the textbook. During this in-class activity, students are practicing essential helping skills—active listening, asking meaningful questions, and responding with empathy—through hands-on role plays and peer feedback.

Why does this matter? Because the work of student affairs is deeply human. Whether supporting a student in crisis, guiding someone through a tough transition, or helping them find their sense of belonging, these skills make the difference. Our students don’t just learn the theory—they practice it in real time in a supportive, engaging classroom environment.

If you’re passionate about supporting college students and want a graduate experience that prepares you for the real work of higher education, this is the place to start.

Ready to turn your passion into impact? Apply to our Student Affairs in Higher Education program today.
