Summer internship spotlight ☀️

Patrick O’Byrne is spending his summer interning with Phothera in Bryan, Ohio. During his internship as an international sales intern, he is managing international logistics tasks, working with export documentation and communicating with distributors. He also independently developed a report analyzing international health care markets and potential distributors to support future global expansion.

Here is how this internship has shaped Patrick’s career goals:

"I study finance and applied economics, but I’ve never been someone who dreams of sitting on Wall Street. This internship reinforced my desire to build a career in international markets, trade and global business. Someday, I’d love to own a small consulting firm that helps local businesses grow, but my true long-term goal is to become the mayor of a small town and help build a community."

Summer internship spotlight ☀️
Carley Von Sossan is spending her summer interning with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. During her internship as a supply chain intern, she is working as a buyer for bulk sealers and adhesives, helping optimize raw material cost structures, supporting supplier contracts and standardizing packaging sizes across manufacturing plants.

Here is an experience that prepared Carley for her internship:

"My business intelligence and data analytics class (IS 4600) with Patrick Lisk prepared me for this role tremendously. The Power BI skills I developed in class have allowed me to create cost-saving dashboards on a global scale, while the course’s focus on data analysis and mining has helped me understand complex datasets and turn them into actionable insights."
