Congratulations to the Givens Family, WKU’s 2026 Family of the Year!

Carley Givens, a fourth generation Hilltopper and Marketing major from St. Louis, Missouri, nominated her family, Debbie (‘97), Corey (‘99), and Clayton, for the award. The family was recognized at tonight's WKU Football game as part of Parent and Family Weekend.

In her essay, Carley shared the story of how her parents met on the Hill.

“Both of my parents were involved in Greek life. My mom was a member of Kappa Delta, and my dad was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. They met at Kappa Delta’s Barn Dance in 1995. I have WKU to thank not only for my college experience, but for bringing my parents together."

Carley also highlighted the excitement of having her younger brother, Clayton, a Construction Management major, join her on the Hill last fall.

“It has been so special to experience the same university that shaped my parents’ lives and now watch it become an important part of my brother’s and my life.”

WKU Student Activities had a great time hosting the 2026 High School Leadership Conference. This past Friday, 320 students from 16 different high schools in Kentucky and Tennessee brought some of their brightest leaders to campus for a day of leadership engagement and development.

Session topics included ethics in leadership, effective communication, personality, campus tours, and more! Thanks to all of the schools who showed out and to those in the WKU community who helped make this happen.

Go tops! ❤️
