Music Learning Community fall outing to watch the Toledo Symphony Orchestra! Gershwin, Copland, and Montgomery on the program.

Looking for something to do this weekend? The annual Black Swamp Arts Festival starts Friday night at 5pm and lasts until Sunday afternoon - be sure to check out the art and especially the amazing lineup of live music! An exceptional program tonight! Okoye is a living composer and her piece "Voices Shouting Out" premiered in 2002. The pairing of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "Symphonic Variant ions on an African Air" with spoken word (consisting largely of quotations by George Washington) provided by Aaron Dworkin is a multilayered exploration of American history. Dawson said of his "Negro Folk Symphony" that "the finest compliment that could be paid my symphony...is that it unmistakeably is not the work of a white man."

Getting ready to listen to the Toledo Symphony Orchestra perform "An American Rhapsody" - three rarely heard works by Black composers. So excited! 🤩

The Music Learning Community MLK Jr. Day of Service food & hygiene items collection drive is coming up, January 8-15! As you get ready to head back to campus, please remember to bring some unopened and unexpired food and/or hygiene items to donate. All donations will benefit the Brown Bag Food Project in Bowling Green.
