This Thursday, please join us for an evening with three fantastic Kentucky-based artists. Starting at 5:30, Bowling Green’s own Alice Gatewood Waddell will be leading a discussion with Ken Burney and Kim Dixon. Both Ken Burney and Kim Dixon are Lexington based artists whose work is featured in the traveling exhibit “Celebrating the Black Experience.” Doors open at 5:00 for a special viewing of the exhibit before the artist talks begins at 5:30.

"Celebrating the Black Experience" is a traveling exhibit presented by our long time partners, the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage and the Kentucky Arts Council.

Our fundraising campaign for the SCCJS Du Bois Scholarship is now live!

This scholarship was first established in 2020, but we are now asking for your help in growing the scholarship fund in order to be able to give more support to our wonderful students!

Once the goal is met students will be awarded the scholarship based on the following criteria:

a. Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Western Kentucky University.
b. Must be majoring in the Department of Society, Culture, Crime, & Justice Studies.
c. Must convey the personal qualities of character, integrity, dependability, industriousness and human compassion which produce leaders and merit the honor of this award. Preference will be given to applicants with strong records of community service and leadership.

Thinking of joining our team? Wanting to be more involved in SCCJS? You’re in luck! SCCJS is now accepting applications for student ambassadors!

Qualifications include:
- Sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing
- A major/minor within SCCJS
- A cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude toward WKU, PCAL, and SCCJS
- Demonstrates responsibility, reliability, and strong time-management skills

Help us grow our department, build your skills, and represent one of the hearts of !
