Western Kentucky defensive lineman Victory Vaka has signed with Middle Tennessee, and I have learned.

Vaka received an injunction last week that allowed him to enter the portal after Western Kentucky non-renewed his scholarship this spring.

6’8” combo guard Armani Byrd (2027) from Warren Central HS was recently offered by WKU.

Some takeaways from Coach presser recap this week:

-Really tough non-con schedule. Top 30 nationally. Will help build RPI & tournament resumé. Doesn’t expect to go 8-2
-Izzy Van De Wiele will miss time to start the season. Recovering from an offseason ankle surgery
-Expect Kate Rush to make 3-4 jaw dropping plays per match. Working on consistency of the routine plays. Calls her a relentless worker & growing setter. Can be a top setter in the nation by time her career is over.
-Expect freshmen Eliza McKnight & Cali Foster to be contributors this season
-Kendall Meller, Aubrey Sears, & Sonja Laaksonen competing for playing time. Good problem to have as he says they can win with all 3
-Team is still very young & could have no seniors on the floor often times. Group invigorates & energizes him to love coaching. Has no current plan or idea when he’ll stop.
