JENNIFER PULLEN JOINING BGSU CREATIVE WRITING PROGRAM

The BGSU creative writing program is delighted to announce that Dr. Jennifer Pullen will be joining the BGSU’s faculty in August 2026. An experienced professor and accomplished writer, Dr. Pullen comes to Bowling Green from Ohio Northern University, where she was an associate professor.

Dr. Pullen is author of the textbook Fantasy Fiction: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology, a comprehensive history of fantasy and craft guide. She holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Ohio University and an MFA from Eastern Washington University. She is author of the collection A Bead of Amber on Her Tongue, which won the Omnidawn Fabulist Fiction Award, and editor of Beastly: An Anthology of Shapeshifting Fairy Tales. Her debut novel, Once Upon a Burning World, is forthcoming in 2027.

Dr. Pullen will be teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in fiction, worldbuilding, and other creative writing topics, as well as working with MFA students on their theses. This addition to our program is part of our ongoing commitment to providing MFA and BFA students with present, engaged mentors who are active writers and scholars themselves.
