Field Lily Music is thrilled to welcome to the team the brilliant educator and performer Dr. Chris Murphy!
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a certificate in saxophone performance from the University of South Carolina, a master’s degree in saxophone performance from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), and a doctorate in contemporary music with a cognate in music cognition from BGSU. He has studied with Clifford Leaman, John Sampen, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, Claude Delangle, Fred Hemke, Allison Balcetis, and Vincent David, among others.
With an appetite for new music, Chris brings to life music that shares captivating stories and fresh perspectives. As a nationally renowned chamber musician, he has travelled from Indiana and the Fischoff semi-finals (Ultraviolet Quartet, 2017) to an Artist Residency at Vermont’s New Music on the Point (Altered Sound Duo, 2018). Through collaborations, premieres, and commissions from composers Erin Rogers, David Vayo, and others, Chris cultivates an inclusive, energetic, and unique environment for learners and listeners alike.
At Field Lily Music, Chris is now offering private woodwind lessons and is pleased to be accepting new students!
