At the 56th Annual JW Patterson Debates hosted by the University of Kentucky.

Sophomores Riley Ney and Vaden Kumar advanced to the Top 32, winning five of their six preliminary debates against students from Harvard University, the United States Naval Academy, the University of Michigan and the University of Kansas before losing a close 2-1 decision from the University of Southern California.

Cam, Kai, Nik, Sage, Abby, Anderson, and Lawrson built on their expreriences at Northwestern and helped the team prep for the doubles debate

WKU Forensics’ college policy debate program started the NDT/CEDA season reaching new heights, with elimination round appearances at both of the major tournament season openers.

This weekend, we had the honor of inviting back WKU Forensics Alumni. They spoke to students, participated in warm-ups, and shared their experiences. Speech and Debate still impacts them today just as it impacts our dedicated students.

BIG RESULT!!!!

WKU finished in the Elite 8 of the 61st Owen L. C**n Season Opener hosted by Northwestern University.

First year students Cameron Ingram and Kai Niendorf made a Monday run to the quarterfinals in a field of over 132 teams with top debaters from Harvard, Emory, Northwestern, Michigan, Wake Forest, and UC-Berkeley among others competing.

This run is historic! and represents an outcome 3 years in the making after the policy debate program was revived in 2024. GO TOPS!

Welcome to the new HOME of WKU Forensics!

Our move into the Tim and Sarah Ford Fieldhouse marks an exciting new chapter for the program. Like every step of our climb, this success is built on relationships: students, coaches, administrators, alumni, and friends who have supported WKU Forensics year after year.

That’s why we’re launching our Reconnection Campaign.

Our goal is simple: we want 100% of the gang to complete the form at wkualumni.org/forensicsalumni so we can stay connected with the people who power our program. Whether you graduated decades ago or just recently left The Hill, we want to hear from you.

We also hope you’ll join us in our new home on September 18–19, 2026, for Alumni Weekend 2026. We’re planning a weekend full of forensics fellowship, shared memories, and joyful nostalgia. Come celebrate where we’ve been, see where we are, and help us imagine where we’re going.
