Did you know our rabbit room is overflowing with sweet, adoptable buns right now? 🐰✨ Whether you're looking for a sassy snuggler, a relaxed lap bunny, or a playful pair, we have the perfect companion waiting to meet you!

🖤 Miller – Waiting more than 3 months for adoption, Miller has been waiting longer than any other pet. He is a gentle, timid boy who finds the shelter overwhelming. He needs a quiet, patient home where he can take his time feeling safe and finally blossom.

🤎 Penelope – This girl has ALL the fluff! Penelope asks for very little: just a cozy spot to lounge, gentle head scratches, and healthy snacks.

🤍 Scarlett – This 1-year-old is full of hilarious sass! Scarlett is a curious, playful girl who demands pets (and will let you know if you stop too soon). She’s looking for a family who will adore her big personality and sweet, snuggly side.

🤎 Brownie – 4 years old, super laid-back, and extraordinarily soft! Brownie loves affection and gentle pets, making him the ideal match if you want a calm companion to relax with.

💕💕 Alfalfa, Apple, Timothy & Kale – 8-week-old baby siblings! These sweeties are social, playful, and very affectionate. Because rabbits thrive with companionship, we’d love to see these babies adopted in pairs!

CAN’T ADOPT RIGHT NOW? YOU CAN STILL HELP! With so many rabbits under our roof, we are burning through rabbit food quickly! Please consider dropping off or ordering a bag of rabbit pellets for our shelter buns. Every single donation helps us keep their tummies full while they wait for their forever homes.

Come meet the bunnies this weekend and see which one is right for your family!

Today, on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we pause to honor and remember the beloved pets who are no longer by our side, but will forever remain in our hearts. 🌈🐾❤️

Whether they were part of your life for a few months or fifteen years, the love they gave leaves an imprint that time can never erase. While the grief of losing them is heavy, today is about celebrating the joy, laughter, and unconditional love they brought into our lives.

We would love to remember your beloved pets with you today. Please share a photo of your Rainbow Bridge pet in the comments. You can tell us their name, your favorite memory with them, or simply leave a heart to honor their memory.

To all the precious souls running free across the Rainbow Bridge: you are missed, you are loved, and you will never be forgotten.✨

Did you catch this during the Adopt-a-thon? Our friends at WNKY produced an incredible video highlighting the impact of our Spay/Neuter initiatives and Community Cat Program. 🐾❤️

Taking in roughly 1,200 animals every month is a massive undertaking. Two decades ago, daily euthanasia was a heartbreaking reality due to overcrowding. Because Director Lorri Hare and her team made a long-term commitment to spay/neuter solutions, BGWCHS has not been forced to euthanize for space in many years.

A major driver of this success is our Community Cat Program. Every cat we serve is spayed or neutered, ear-tipped, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We give these cats the best possible protection for a long, healthy life outdoors.

The results speak for themselves. Within just three years of launching the Community Cat Program, stray cat intake within Bowling Green city limits dropped by a staggering 70%!

Systemic change doesn't happen overnight, but proactive spay and neuter programs are the single most effective way to eliminate pet overpopulation at the root. But we can’t do it without you.

✨ BGHS SPOTLIGHT PROJECT: Meet Riot! ✨

Riot is a handsome Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a delightfully goofy spirit. He has all the sweet charm of a puppy, but with a much more balanced energy level, making him the perfect mix of playful sidekick and relaxed cuddle buddy!

Riot loves to be outdoors. Whether he's exploring the yard, going on a scenic walk, or simply soaking up the fresh air, he’s happiest when he’s enjoying the outdoors with his favorite humans by his side.

🩵 Medical Note: Riot is heartworm positive and has already started treatments. BGWCHS will cover his entire treatment until he’s 100% recovered, but he will need a family dedicated to supporting him through his recovery.

Riot will be an extraordinarily loyal, affectionate companion. If you’re looking for a cuddly best friend to steal your heart, Riot is ready to meet you!

Thank you to our amazing volunteers at BGHS for making this spotlight possible!

Meet Scottie! 🐾✨

Scottie came to us in June as a tiny, sickly stray, but after spending eight weeks in a loving foster home, he has made an incredible transformation. He spent the last two months putting on weight, recovering his health, and becoming more socialized.

Physically, Scottie is now in perfect health and ready for his forever home! Emotionally, he’s still working on building his confidence. He is cautious around new people — even a little "hissy" — but he has a secret: he’s a total closet cuddle bug! When shelter staff gently scoop him up for forced cuddle sessions, his defenses melt away, replaced by deep, content purring.

Scottie will thrive in a quiet, patient home with a family who understands that good things take time. He needs adopters willing to gently nudge him out of his comfort zone and show him that human affection is nothing to fear.

With a little patience and a lot of love, Scottie is going to make a beautiful, lifelong companion. Ready to help this sweet boy fully blossom? Come visit him today! 🐱❤️

We have one more important Adopt-a-thon “thank you,” and it’s for our incredible staff! 🐾❤️

While the Adopt-a-thon is one big night for our community, our staff pours their hearts into this mission 365 days a year. From early morning cleanings and medical treatments to managing stressful intakes, processing adoptions, and giving endless love to every pet that walks through our doors — their work is heavy, constant, and deeply meaningful.

Events like the Adopt-a-thon take an extraordinary amount of extra energy and coordination on top of their daily duties. Yet, our team showed up with smiles, passion, and an unwavering commitment to making sure every shelter pet had their moment to shine.

To our entire staff: THANK YOU. You are the heart and soul of this shelter, and we could not save lives without you. You truly are everyday heroes! 🌟
