The Bowling Green Hot Rods stopped by today to deliver the Tail Waggin' Tuesdays donations from this season. We are so grateful for their incredible partnership and for each of you who enjoyed a ballgame with your pup!

Turbo and the Hot Rods were proud to present $1,110 to the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society, raised through Tailwaggin' Tuesdays! We want to say thank you to everyone who brought their dogs out to the ballpark this season and helped make this happen!

Today, 8 incredible dogs walked out our doors with their forever families. We are so, so grateful for every single adoption… but we need to share the reality of shelter life: TODAY, WE TOOK IN 67 ANIMALS.

Among them were 45 dogs, many from a case needing urgent medical care and extra attention. 💔

While 8 dogs found homes, 45 more took their place in just a 24-hour period. Our staff and volunteers are working tirelessly around the clock to bathe, examine, feed, and comfort each one of these pets.

To make matters worse, Facebook and Meta continue to make communication more challenging for nonprofit organizations.

We are facing an uphill battle — not just in our kennels, but online. Meta continues to transition to a "pay-to-play" model where posts from nonprofits like BGWCHS are hidden unless we pay fees. As a nonprofit, we simply don't have the marketing budget to pay for our own followers to see our posts.

You may have noticed BGWCHS no longer includes links to our webpages – this is because Meta no longer allows business pages to include links without paying for a monthly Meta subscription, which can cost hundreds of dollars each month.

But the reality is Facebook remains our primary way to reach potential adopters, fosters, and donors. So for now, we really need YOU to be our algorithm booster! If you see one of our organic posts, it’s because you’re a fan, and it’s your opportunity to make an impact! If you can like, share, and comment, it will help us reach more people.

💖 HOME SWEET HOMECOMING SPOTLIGHT: MEET RILEY! 🐾

From Oct 1–4, adoptable dogs 40+ lbs have FREE adoption fees sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition!

Riley is a sweet 4-year-old Pit Bull mix who is ready to find a family of her very own! She came to us after getting a little too interested in the neighbor’s livestock and developing a habit of chasing them. Because of this, Riley is looking for a home without cats or livestock where she can enjoy life without getting herself into trouble!

Despite that little quirk, Riley has so many wonderful qualities. She gets along great with other dogs and has been a fantastic roommate. She has also done wonderfully with our volunteers and absolutely loves kids!

Riley has experience being both an indoor and outdoor dog, and she is housebroken. She would love a family who will include her in their daily life, give her plenty of love and attention, and help her stay out of mischief.

Riley is such a good girl, and we would love to see her adopted soon! She has been a wonderful shelter resident, but nothing would make us happier than watching her walk out the door with a family who will love her forever.

If you’re looking for a sweet, kid-loving, dog-friendly companion, Riley may be your girl!

THANK YOU, BOWLING GREEN! 🛒🐾

What an incredible turnout at the Campbell Lane Walmart this past weekend! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who stopped by our tables, said hello, and dropped off a donation.

Because of your generosity, we filled our transport van with essential cleaning supplies, paper towels, pet food, litter, and office supplies! These everyday items keep our shelter running smoothly and ensure our animals receive the best possible care every single day.

A special shoutout to our dedicated board members and volunteers (including JayJay and Molly!) who gave up their Saturday to collect donations, and to Walmart for hosting us! Our community always shows up for shelter pets, and we could not be more thankful for your support! 💙✨

🧸 HOME SWEET HOMECOMING SPOTLIGHT: MEET BIGGIE! 💙

From Oct 1–4, we’re waiving adoption fees for all adoptable dogs 40+ lbs, thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition!

Biggie may be a BIG boy, but don’t let his size fool you — this 4-year-old Lab mix is basically a 90-pound teddy bear!

Biggie was surrendered when his family was moving and unfortunately didn’t have enough space for a big guy like him. He has lived both indoors and outdoors and is housebroken, crate trained, and accustomed to being supervised while outside in a fenced yard. He’s also a great passenger and travels well in the car!

This big boy is wonderful with children of all ages and gets along well with other dogs. Cats, however, are a little too scary for Biggie, so he would do best in a cat-free home. He already knows some great manners, too — he can sit, shake, and stay like the good boy he is!

Biggie is proof that sometimes the biggest dogs have the biggest hearts. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will make himself right at home, Biggie might just be your guy!

🐾 BGHS SPOTLIGHT PROJECT: MEET BOSCOE JOE! 💜🐶

If your motto is "the bigger the dog, the bigger the hugs," then Boscoe Joe is your guy! Weighing in at 88 pounds, this handsome 6-year-old Pit Bull mix is a certified staff favorite and the biggest lover boy in the building.

Boscoe Joe has never met a stranger — he adores everyone he meets, including other dogs! He will happily soak up every single ounce of affection, belly rubs, and ear scratches you're willing to give.

At 6 years young, Boscoe Joe has hit that perfect sweet spot: he's past the chaotic puppy destruction phase and has a wonderfully easygoing personality, but he still has years of loyal companionship and couch cuddles ahead.

🐕 HOME SWEET HOMECOMING SPOTLIGHT: MEET KUJO! 🤍

Meet Kujo, a 1-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who is big, beautiful, and full of playful fun!

Kujo was surrendered to us simply because his previous family didn't have enough outdoor space for his youthful energy. At just a year old, this sweet boy is still very much a big puppy who loves to play, explore, and put his cheerful energy to good use!

Kujo previously lived an indoor/outdoor lifestyle and is already crate trained and housebroken. He knows how to "sit," gets along great with other dogs, and absolutely loves kids! He’s also a phenomenal passenger who loves taking car rides and joining family adventures.

Since coming to BGWCHS, Kujo has been improving every day. He is smart, eager to learn, and ready to find a forever home with a yard where he can run, stretch his big legs, and be the loyal companion he was born to be!

October 1–7 is National Walk Your Dog Week, the perfect reminder that exercise and mental stimulation enrich our dogs' lives!

Whether you're exploring local trails, strolling through your neighborhood, or enjoying the cool fall air, take some extra time this week to get out and move with your four-legged friend!

Don't have a dog of your own? We've got you covered! BGWCHS has an open volunteer policy. Anytime we're open, we welcome volunteers to come walk dogs! If you've never volunteered with us, it's a simple process to get started! Just check in at the Adoption Center (1924 Louisville Rd), fill out a quick form, and we'll show you the ropes (and leashes!). 🦮
