HL Friday Night Lights week #2
What a fun night. Chieftains win over Huron 37-0. I spent the night on the track with the team, cheer, student section and band. Fun catching up and chatting to our students and being able to watch some amazing football.

Thank you Seneca County Regional Chamber for inviting me to share my SRO story. What fun it was to share and meet so many community members.

At yesterday’s Seneca County Safety Council meeting, we welcomed Officer Brian Ruckstuhl, better known online as Officer Brian SRO, to share his experience with school safety, building trust and connecting with students.

Brian is a U.S. Navy veteran and retired Wood County Sheriff’s Office deputy who served for 35 years. He now serves as the School Resource Officer and Safety Director at Hopewell-Loudon Jr/Sr High School-, where he works each day to create a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

From teaching D.A.R.E. and supporting students to bringing music into the hallways and attending school events, Brian has found creative ways to build meaningful relationships throughout the Chieftain community. He also shares his work online and has grown a TikTok following of more than 9,800 people.

Thank you, Officer Brian, for joining us and for the positive impact you continue to make at Hopewell-Loudon and across Seneca County!

Chieftain Celebrity Phone call:
On my way home today from school I received a phone call. The call was from 2026 HL Graduate Judah Risner. Judah wanted to tell me he was an Official U.S. Navy Sailor and graduates next week. After HS graduation Judah enlisted in the Navy and has been in boot camp at Great Lakes Recruit Training Center in Chicago. He said today he officially became a Sailor and wanted to call and tell me. We talked for 5 mins and I had to tell him how proud I was of him. From one Naval Sailor to another this made my day. I love the professional relationships I build with my students and I am truly blessed that I can still stay in contact and watch my students spread their wings and start living their best life. I am in my office today doing some training and I hear some whispering out in the hallway “ is he in there? Shhhh be quiet” All the sudden I get swarmed with the entire JH Volleyball team. They were on their way to an away game and all stopped by to say hello and welcome me back. Kinda felt like a Flash Mob video as they were all so happy and fun. Do I feel appreciated ? Yes I do. Add this to the long list of why I love my job and school. Chieftain Pride

Friday Night Lights 2026:
What a night. So many Chieftains and their friends and families came out big.
Football wins big over Lake. It was so awesome to see so many current and former students. If this night is a glimpse into this next school year than I am very excited. It was so fun to see and talk to so many. Chieftain Pride.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS 2026:
The before pics and during game pics will definitely be different. Right now this stadium is empty. Later tonight I will repost new pics.
The team will be on the field, Cheer squad will be on the track cheering, band will be in the bleachers, student section will be rocking, parents, family and community members will be here, concessions will be busy and the scoreboard will be lit and operating. It’s year 4 for me being a CHIEFTAIN and I am ready for some Friday Night fun. To my students, when this stadium is rocking take a moment to breathe, listen, and then look around and take it all in. You only have so many of these nights. Make this night count and make a memory. My simple request to my students, show up, make great choices, have fun, laugh, cheer, and represent our school to the best of your ability.

Story time: This afternoon I attended a funeral visitation for Mr. Greg Stull. This caused me to remember and reflect on my friend. I’ve completed 3 school years as the HL SRO. When I was working security at my 1st Boys home basketball game I noticed a man sitting in the bleachers on the floor seat.
I sat down next to him, we quickly hit it off and small talked. I was new to HL and came to know him as Greg and the grandfather of several HL students. Each year and mostly every game I would go sit with him during the pre game warm ups, it was just our thing. We would small chat about school, my job, farming, the game, his grandkids and so much more. Never did we speak without him giving me some sort of candy. We did this for 3 years and I was getting to know him very well. This past winter at a Boys home game we were chatting and he said “we didn’t have SRO’s in the 1970’s but if they had he would have wanted me as his SRO”. I reminded him I was 9 years younger than him and that could not have happened and of course we laughed joking of how much fun that would have been. At the time it didn’t mean that much to me, but now that he passed I reflect on what he said and now it has a whole new meaning. He was always quick to compliment me about building student relationships with the kids and always gave me a verbal pat on the back. I must admit I never knew his last name, I guess I didn’t feel it was important to me and it was not until I read his obituary that I found out he was Mr. Stull. I knew him to be kind, funny, and respectful, he would point out his grand kids and was super proud of them all. Not knowing his last name was not important but the connection we had was real and life changing for me. He was my friend and I will miss him.
HL Football, Basketball and Softball will be different for me as I will miss seeing him and talking….. Thank you Greg for 3 years of kindness, laughs and of course friendship.
