🚨Breaking news from the Missouri Stare Fair🚨

Congratulations to Mealiea Cover on Grand Champion Shorthorn female! This qualifies her for the Show-Me Shootout tomorrow night in the Colosseum. She will show against all of the other breed champions for a chance in the top 5 females exhibited at the Missouri State Fair!

First chapter meeting of this school year at the Pike County Fair Grounds! This is a good way to start getting involved in FFA. We will have a. corn hole tournament Thursday the 27th and there will be food and drinks provided. Come join us and have some fun!!!

Bowling Green FFA brought home the sweepstakes award from the FFA Sheep show at the Missouri State Fair. This is based upon the number of exhibitors and their placings.

The Missouri State Fair Grand Champion Youth Bacon was exhibited by Madelynn Charlton of Bowling Green, MO. Madelynn is the daughter of Kenneth and Kimberly Charlton and is a member of the Peppy Circle 4-H Club.

On Aug. 22, Madelynn will her their Bacon in the Missouri State Fair Best of Missouri Awards & Sale. Proceeds from the sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Scholarship Program.

Many youth exhibitors will work toward earning a place in the ring at the Best of Missouri Awards and Sale. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Junior Exhibitors will sell their Bacons, Hams, Steer Carcasses, Barrow Carcasses, Lamb Carcasses and Meat Goat Carcasses. Award-Winning Missouri Grown Products, Best of Class Missouri Wine Collection, Governor’s Cup Wine and Best of Class Cheese will also be featured in the auction. The Awards will be held at 10:30 a.m. and the Sale will start at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. The Sale of Champions will follow the event starting at 1:30 p.m. The entire auction will be broadcast live by KMMO radio online. The auction will also be live on the Missouri State Fair Livestock and Building Exhibitors’ page.

Yesterday was another busy day at the Missouri State Fair! Avery Schumacher, Cambree Schumacher, and Clane Mahar did a great job in showmanship.

In the swine barn Delaney Feldman, Alex Feldman, and Nathan Huckstep exhibited Gilts and Boars. Nathan exhibited the Grand Champion Other Pure Breeds Boar!

In the Sheep Pavilion the Baileys were showing in the open Hampshire show. Clara exhibited the Reserve Champion Hampshire Junior Ram that was also the Reserve Hampshire Champion Ram overall.

Today 4 members of the Bowling Green FFA traveled to the Missouri State Fair to participate in Food Insecurity Day. They helped pack just under 68,000 meals in two and a half hours. The meals will continue to be packed tomorrow with an end goal of 250,000 meals. The meals will be distributed to the food banks of Missouri. They even got the chance to talk to Governor Kehoe.
