๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ€ Excellence On and Off the Court! ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ“š

The 2025-2026 Otsego Lady Knights Varsity Basketball Team has been recognized as one of the Top 30 teams in Ohio for team GPA, earning an outstanding 3.90 unweighted GPA!

This achievement is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and character of our student-athletes. These young women continue to prove that success isnโ€™t just measured by points on the scoreboard, but also by the commitment they bring to the classroom every single day.

We are incredibly proud of our players, coaches, teachers, and families who support a culture where academics and athletics go hand in hand.

๐Ÿš’๐ŸšฆSafety Town 2026 was a huge success! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This year marked the 3rd annual Safety Town, welcoming 60โ€“65 incoming kindergarten and first-grade students for a fun-filled week of learning important safety skills. From fire safety and bike safety to dental health, transportation, animal safety, and much more, our students gained valuable knowledge while having a great time!

๐Ÿ–ค A special thank you goes to our 30 incredible high school volunteers who helped make the week run smoothly. Their leadership, patience, and enthusiasm made a lasting impact on our youngest learners. We are so proud of the way they represented Otsego!

We are also grateful for the many community partners, presenters, organizers, and contributors who generously shared their time and expertise:

A huge THANK YOU to the Otsego Endowment Foundation for graciously funding our new Lรผ Interactive Playground in the elementary gym! ๐ŸŽ‰

After its installation in February, our recent teacher work day gave our PE and Extended Care staff the opportunity to complete a full day of training and explore all the exciting possibilities the system offers.

Once everyone got comfortable, teachers and staff took a well-deserved break from packing and cleaning classrooms to head to the gym and become some hypothetical โ€œstudentsโ€ for the afternoon. ๐Ÿ˜„

There were plenty of laughs, lots of movement, a few VERY competitive teachers, and definitely some calories burned! Most importantly, weโ€™re excited about the opportunities this interactive space will provide for our students this summer during Extended Care and throughout next yearโ€™s PE classes.

We are incredibly thankful to the Otsego Endowment Foundation for supporting innovative experiences that help keep our students active, engaged, and having fun while learning.

Moments like these remind us of the strength, sacrifice, and support behind our military families.

Thank you to Lt. Col. David Atkinson and the entire Atkinson family. We are so grateful you are a part of our community and the Otsego family. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ’œ

Lieutenant Colonel David Atkinson, U.S. Air Force, embraces his father, former Whitehouse Mayor Don Atkinson, after surprising him during village Memorial Day services as the crowd looks on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Veterans Memorial Park in Whitehouse, Ohio.

Lt. Col. Atkinson, a 1992 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School, originally had been scheduled as the keynote speaker for Mondayโ€™s ceremony but was dropped from the program when he was deployed earlier this year during Operation Fury in Iran. He was able to secure a four-day leave to visit wife Pam, their children, and his extended family but kept it a secret. He had been gone for three months.

Mayor Atkinson burst into tears when his son approached and grabbed him in a tight hug. Lt. Col. Atkinson then briefly addressed those gathered in the park, thanking them for supporting U.S. armed forces, offering gratitude for spouses of military members who take care of families and households during deployments, and distributing notecards people could use to send messages to uniformed personnel. He also told the story of a Vietnam War POW whose struggle to escape captivity was inspired by the kind of love and support shown by the crowd at Veterans Memorial Park.
