We officially welcomed our first foal to be bred and born in our Equine Reproduction and Breeding class. Of course Dolly decided to hold out until after class has finished up for the semester.

Did you know that the gestation of a horse is an average of 340 days? This little filly here held off for 355 days, but she's well worth the wait!

Breeding season has started for the WKU mares. We will be breeding Khalil’s Firecracker tomorrow to Boomshernic and could not be more excited. If interested in learning more about equine reproduction, check out our ANSC 439 class, Equine Breeding and Reproduction!

We welcomed a handsome little Half Arabian c**t late yesterday! With having a maiden mare, there were a few slight hiccups but nothing the Equine Reproduction and Breeding students couldn’t handle. Can’t wait to see this little guy unfold and mature!

The Equine Reproduction and Breeding class got started with palpating mares today! We have 3 mares lined uo for this class to get some hands on experience breeding and 1 mare to foal out this semester.

Hannah Doyel and Brooke Sullivan of the WKU Stock Horse Team with Coach Creste enjoyed the sunny day working cattle at the WKU Beef Barn! Thank you Tesla and Dr. Silva for allowing us to practice and help out! We were able to push the fall herd up and sort 8-10 small groups.

Today, WKU Equine had the privilege of hosting the St. Amant High School's FFA Horse Judging Team from Louisiana! Good luck at the FFA National Convention, ladies! Students from the ANSC 232 Basic Equitation course and Western Kentucky University Equestrian Team provided a class of halter mares and a reining class for the Judging Team to practice their skills.
