What was my favorite part of presenting at OHCA this year? Seeing so many BGSU alum! Thank you to those who attended my session, thank you to those of you who chased me down, and thank you to those who took the time to find me at the convention.

Congratulations to our Scholarship Recipients!

Congratulations to Olivea, who received the W. Philip McConnell ACHCA Scholarship at the Annual Conference in Orlando last week! Olivea is completing her Administrator Residency at Birchaven Village and will graduate in December.

Olivia is in the process of completing her internship at Brookdale with not one but three proud BGSU alum. The favorite part of her internship was interacting with the residents and learning more about the clinical team. Go Falcons!

Elena is wrapping up her internship at The Willows and shares that she has "gained a deeper understanding of what it means to support a team, communicate with intention, and navigate challenges with both confidence and grace. Elena is so grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow under Billie Jean’s guidance as Executive Director. Being surrounded by such a driven and inspiring mentor has only deepened my passion for this field. I’m leaving this chapter with so much gratitude, a stronger sense of confidence in myself, and a genuine excitement for what lies ahead!" We wish Elena the best!

We love our community partners who help prepare our students for careers working with older adults

We are so grateful for the time Chloe and Caden have spent with us here at Wood Haven Health Care. As Bowling Green State University students, they have brought such positive energy, compassion, and dedication to our residents and staff throughout their internships.

Chloe has been gaining hands on experience in our therapy department and plans to continue her journey into OT school, while Caden has been working closely with admissions and will be starting a position in a long term care facility following his internship.

Thank you both for the impact you have made and the care you have shown. We are excited to see all that you accomplish next!! 😊

As professionals working with older adults, please help raise awareness about scams targeting this population. As a family caregiver, I’ve experienced this firsthand. Scammers may call pretending to be a grandchild in jail, urgently requesting bail money. These calls can be very convincing and emotionally distressing.

We are getting reports of a phone scam involving individuals falsely claiming to represent the Golden Buckeye program. They are trying to get personal information, including social security numbers.

These calls are NOT from the Ohio Department of Aging.

The Golden Buckeye program will never call, text, or email to ask for personal or financial information.
