On Day 1 | June 25, we celebrate Dr. Thelma Thomas Daley, a trailblazer who broke racial barriers as president of both the American Counseling Association and the American School Counselor Association, paving the way for every Black woman who came after her in this field.
A Living Civil Rights Legend. A counselor. An educator. An activist. A builder. ๐๐พ
Dr. Daley didnโt just walk through doors, she opened them for all of us. And tonight, we honor her for it. โจ

To those preparing to become school counselors and those already serving โ what kind of impact do you hope to have on the students and communities you work with? ๐ค๐
Beyond programs, lessons, and interventions, school counseling is about connection and long-term influence.
What does meaningful impact look like to you in this profession?

54% of school counselors say compliance-related tasks reduce their time with students.
The challenge isnโt just the workload โ itโs the time taken away from meaningful student support.
Because every hour spent on paperwork is time not spent listening, guiding, and helping students grow.
UJIMA is preparing future school counselors to navigate these challenges while staying focused on what matters most โ students. ๐ค๐
