Throughout her career, she has consistently excelled both academically and artistically, earning scholarships from the Makiling Academic and Research Institute for the Arts (MARIA), the UP College of Music Extension Program, and the Philippine Women's University (PWU) School of Music. MJ graduated with high honors from the Philippine High School for the Arts (PHSA), earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice cm laude from the University of the Philippines, and completed her Master’s in Music Performance PWU. She is pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching at Goucher College, Baltimore, MD. MJ’s international experience is extensive. She is an alumna of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers. She was a member of the Asian Youth Choir in 2010 and represented the Philippines as the only Filipino soprano delegate in the Asia Pacific Youth Choir in 2011 and 2018, performing in concert halls across China. In March 2019, she represented the Philippines at the 8th Japan Choral Association Youth Choir in Yamanashi, Japan. She was also invited to sing with the Asia Pacific Youth Choir at the International Youth Music Festival 2019 and Asia Pacific Summit 2019 in Macau and Hong Kong. MJ has received multiple awards for her musical achievements, including the provincial Sangguniang Kabataan Youth Award and the Sangyaw Award in Music Performance in 2016. She is passionate about music education and performance, consistently inspiring young musicians and sharing the richness of music with diverse audiences. After returning to Tacloban City in 2016, MJ opened a private music studio and taught classroom music at Bethel International School and Leyte Normal University. She also served as a part-time Associate Professor in Voice at the Philippine Women’s University in Manila. In 2018, MJ founded the Sinirangan Chamber Singers, a community choir in Tacloban City dedicated to nurturing local talent and promoting choral music in the Eastern Visayas region. She has also taught at the Ryan Cayabyab Music School and served on various music organization boards. Currently, MJ is based in the U.S., where she is a full-time Vocal and General Music Teacher at Dodge Park Elementary School in Landover, Maryland.
