I’m excited to be a panelist with alumni Tavisan Ramesh and colleagues Dr. Julie Kaplan and Colleen Driscoll, on Tuesday, November 18th via ZOOM as part of the International Education Week theme of Thriving Together: Global Perspectives on Happiness, Wellbeing, and Human Connection.

Our panel Finding A Happy Place: Combating international student loneliness and building community far from home, hosted by the Office for Civil Rights Compliance and Prevention Education in collaboration with Cook Counseling, Hokie Wellness and the DC Area GAAP Team, will spotlight how our community is responding to the challenges of isolation often experienced in international education.

Topics will include:

~Common challenges international students face related to isolation and belonging

~Practical strategies and institutional approaches that foster inclusion

~Personal stories, lessons learned, and pathways forward
