Such an honor to represent the great work that is happening in the field of early childhood education. It is more meaningful to represent as a black entrepreneur following my passion for children, educators and families. Thank you Zero to Three!!

Had an amazing week presenting at the Teachstone Interact Conference in Miami. I was able to sit in on some great sessions. The highlight was having the opportunity to present with two amazing trainers, Sheila George and Michelle Hall. Also enjoyed the opportunity to eat lots of gelato, and have a nice dinner with Nicole from Teachstone while sipping on the best virgin mango Mojito I have ever had

This last year has been very exciting professionally. Last year I was a 2023 Exchange Leader, I presented my first conference keynote, and the biggest was being published in NAEYC’s Developmentally Appropriate Practice Casebook. I have been a member of this organization for many years and truly admire the work they do for the field of early childhood education. Having the honor to be asked to write a case was amazing. It took a year of working with my editor and collaborating with the teachers that I’ve coached. Professionally, this is one of those bucket list items of being published, but it makes it even more satisfying that it was for NAEYC. Very excited to see what’s in store for this coming year. God continues to open doors and stretch me beyond what I even see myself as capable of accomplishing. So blessed!

This weekend I had the honor of being the keynote speaker at the Howard County Family Childcare Association Conference. I shared with them how to weather the changes of the early childhood education field. It was a great experience. I want to give a special thank you to Thelma Hayes for recommending me 😊.

I did a thing! I am honored to be a 2022 Exchange Leader. To have been in this field of early childhood education for over two decades I have had the pleasure to be lead by some great leaders who have inspired me to grow professionally. It is my hope that I too have been in some way inspirational to those who have crossed my path. I want to give a special thanks to Petrea Johnson Hicks for seeing the leader in me and having the heart and leadership within her that she wants to see us all winning. Thank you for the push. I would also like to thank Sheila George and Debbie Franklin for their kind words they share to nominate me for this honor.

The child care industry is really suffering.
‘The pay is absolute crap’: Child-care workers are quitting rapidly, a red flag for the economy
Child care employment is still down more than 126,000 positions as workers leave for higher-paying positions as bank tellers, administrative assistants and retail clerks. Parents are struggling to return to work as daycare and after school programs dwindle.

The child care community has taken a big hit during this pandemic. Wanted to share some resources for center and family programs. You will find information on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL), and the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC). You will also find webinars for center owners and family child care educators about the PPP and EID. Lauren Tyson Bond

Netflix Jr. has put a compilation of children’s books read by celebrities. It’s a great list with and has some of my favorites. The best thing is they’re all African-American books and/or authors. Enjoy!!
