Join us as we celebrate the next generation of Army officers as they take the oath of office and step forward to serve.

We are honored to feature keynote speaker Lieutenant General David Wilson, United States Army, Retired, former Deputy Chief of Staff, G-9 (Installations), Headquarters, Department of the Army. A graduate of The Citadel, LTG Wilson was commissioned in 1991 and has built a distinguished career spanning logistics, sustainment, and strategic leadership across the force.

He has served in key senior leadership roles including Commanding General, United States Army Sustainment Command, Commanding General, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, and 40th Chief of Ordnance and Commandant of the United States Army Ordnance School, establishing himself as one of the Army’s premier sustainment leaders.

A trailblazer in the profession of arms, he is the first African American graduate of The Citadel to attain the rank of Brigadier General and remains the highest-ranking African American alumnus across all branches of service from the institution. His combat service includes deployments to Somalia, Haiti, Kuwait, and multiple tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Since retiring, he continues to serve through mentorship, leadership development, and engagement with the next generation of Army leaders.

Calling all Potential Bulldogs: If anyone wants a guaranteed career- test your courage and I dare you to take on the demands of a SROTC cadet! In 4yrs you walk away with a degree and an Army Commission- that’s a double reward! At the Bulldog Battalion one will learn to Lead, Follow and if can’t Get out the way….This was during JCLC (27 schools from across MD 2-from DE) came to Bowie State to gain Leadership abilities! LTC(R) Robinson, CPT(R) Campbell, and Cadet Okorie- were on board to recruit gaining 44 leads (25 was the magic number) 💛🖤 💛🖤🔥

Hear ye hear ye…let it be known that we have a commissioning ceremony this morning at 1130hrs! Our cadets have answered the call to serve their country as Army officers! Blood 🩸 😓 and 😭 of putting the grind to answer the call that many are not willing to take! We are all proud of our new commissionees! They will forever remain Bowie Bold!! Ain’t no stopping us now…We’re on the move!! One of the biggest feats is knowing that you’re about to embark on a journey that you’ve been waiting for 4yrs! That’s what’s about to happen next week for some of our cadets at BSU! Some are coming from active duty where they have cashed in their hard stripes for a bar…I know that beat also well (shoutout to VSU)-anyways Leadership is a process that takes time-one of the steps is tackling the Army ACFT! Our cadets at BSU are ready to face their Soldiers with grit and vigor- all the while, while reminding the BSU ROTC Motto: Lead, Follow or Get out the Way! I’m proud of our cadets- just keep putting in that work and the rewards are greater- ! -2LTtime🖤; ;
