Mrs. Word’s Theater class

I am so proud of each of you. It was privilege to be your teacher!

This week we celebrate Corban Word. Corban has been a part of both BJH and BHS theater for his entirety at Bowie ISD. Corban is a a state qualifier in UIL speech and a regional qualifier in UIL film. He has been in the musicals Beauty and The Beast, Wizard of Oz, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Lightning Thief, The Adam’s Family, and Shrek and has been in the UIL One Act Plays, Sweet Nothing in my Ear, A Monster Calls, A View from the Bridge and Amadeus. He is a champion dancer and talented musician. He was chosen as one the top 15 musical Theater students in the state by TXETA and a featured performer for theatre fest. We are so proud of you Corban, you have blazed a trail, broken down barriers and left a legacy at BHS theater.

State Theatrcal Design and Speech

This week we celebrate Nicholai Brady. Nic has been a part of both BJH and BHS theater. He has been in the high school musicals Beauty and The Beast, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Wizard of Oz, the Lightning Thief, Shrek, and Adams Family as well as participated in the One Act plays A Monster Calls, A View From The Bridge, and Amadeus. He has competed in UIL film and extemporaneous speaking. He is a a talented dancer and musician performing in numerous shows with Rise Performing Arts Center. We are so proud of your accomplishments you have forever left your mark on BHS theater!

A theatre degree is only “useless” if you let people believe it only taught you how to perform. The truth is, theatre students learn how to speak clearly, collaborate under pressure, and make a strong case for themselves in front of people who are deciding their future.
