FAME Appoints Langston H. Hughes ll as Artistic Director!

FAME proudly announces the appointment of Langston Hughes II as Artistic Director of the FAME Jazz Band, marking an exciting new chapter in the organization’s ongoing commitment to artistic excellence, education, and community impact.

Our founder, A. Toni Lewis, was honored on October 30 by the Greater Washington Community Foundation at their inaugural Prince George's HONORS ceremony at MGM National Harbor. She was named as one of the Nonprofit Leaders of the year. We are so thankful for her leadership as FAME continues to uplift our area's young people.

Fellowship Jazz Combo UMD fellowship chamber groups are prominent ambassadors in the School of Music, throughout the D.C. Metro region, Maryland and beyond. The University of Maryland School of Music will be recruiting woodwind quintet and jazz combo members for Fall 2026.
