Triton Elementary 4th grade students had an amazing learning experience at Forks of the Wabash Historical Park! They explored the history of the area, including where early American settlers signed peace treaties with Native Americans. Students also visited the home of Chiefs’ LaFontaine and Richardville and toured several historic buildings along the Wabash River. Thank you to the Triton Student Life Foundation for covering this field trip for our scholars and their families!

The PTO is a group of enthusiastic staff members and parents who desire to support the scholars of Triton Elementary. They organize methods for raising funds and allocate those funds in various ways to benefit students, teachers, and families.

April 4th was National School Librarian Appreciation Day, and we couldn’t miss the chance to celebrate our amazing elementary librarian. Mrs. Shafer inspires a love of reading, curiosity, and learning every single day. We are so grateful for all she does for our students and staff! 💙📖

🌟 Hallway Heroes: Friday Spotlight 🌟
Today we’re shining the spotlight on someone who keeps our days moving safely and smoothly, our amazing Transportation Director, Mrs. Baker! 🚌
Mrs. Baker’s care for students goes far beyond routes and schedules. Her love for kids, families, and the unforgettable moments that happen on the bus truly shows why transportation staff are such an important part of our school community. We are so grateful for her dedication, leadership, and heart.

What’s your favorite part about helping students get to and from school safely each day?
-I personally rarely transport students since I became the director of transportation in 2019. I can say that I loved driving the bus. The kiddos become like your family. If you drive long enough and stay on the same route you are lucky enough to drive a couple generations which is pretty cool. It is fun to see them in the hallway and anywhere and you receive the best hugs ever. I used to tell them a joke a day in the morning, we would sing Happy Birthday to anyone who celebrated their special day with us. It was fun to dress up at Halloween. Some kiddos would share too much and some would share very little. When my daughters attended Triton it was awesome to be able to drive their field trips & sporting events. Sometimes I am lucky enough to drive one of my grandchildren's field trips, which is pretty special. To say the least it was the best gig!!!

If you could decorate a school bus any way you wanted, what would it look like?
-If I could decorate the outside of the bus any way I wanted it would be bright colors with flowers, rainbows, hearts and smiley faces. The inside would have really cool lights that would be on when I picked them up when the mornings are dark.

What’s one thing you wish students knew about school buses or bus drivers?
-One thing I wish anyone knew about bus drivers is what it takes to get your certification to drive a school bus. Statistics show that school buses are the safest way to and from school. Bus drivers have to make sure their buses are safe everyday by doing a pre-trip each time we take the bus on any trip. Drivers are very dedicated in making sure the students arrive at school and back home safely. I love that our drivers make sure each student is safely in their home each day. Bus drivers have to pass a physical every two years and we have to do annual training to keep our certification.
All I have to say is you don't know what you're missing by not experiencing the adventure of being a bus driver. It is the best!!!

Mrs. Scheetz took some Triton Elementary 6th grade students to Cultivate Food Rescue where they packed 1105 meals. Cultivate recovers excess, quality food and redistributes it to school children, food pantries and shelters. Triton Elementary is a recipient of this tremendous organization and it feels good for our students to give back to an organization that blesses Triton Scholars!!
Uncommon Trojans giving back to Cultivate Food Resource who gives uncomditionally to so many!!!!

🌦 Weather Check�The forecast is looking a little damp with temperatures in the low 40s to mid-60s. Plan accordingly so you stay comfortable arriving and departing.
