This summer I’ll be teaching Alexander Technique at the Montecito International Vocal Institute, which takes place as a part of the Music Festival in the summer months. It will take place at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA.

We are pleased to be able to invite and welcome all singers from high school, university or who are working professionally to join us as we offer the opportunity for vocalists to take a break from their work or study schedule and see this as a moment and a place of oasis away from the singer's reality in the world.

Singers will not only be able to work with experienced and professional coaches/instructors, but they will also go beyond the studio and focus in on their own health, well-being and have the opportunity to hone their skills as each of them prepares to continue pursuing their career.

If you have students or know of someone who might be interested in this program, please share!

What a wonderful teacher training immersion we had these past several days in Boulder. Each student, myself included, grew and bloomed by the end of the time together. I'm honored to be a part of each person's path to teach this work - and I'm so proud of these students!

What does it mean to be whole?

We often perceive or experience ourselves in many different parts.

We have body parts that get our attention, especially when they are in discomfort. We have emotional parts that have different feelings, sometimes contrasting. We have identities that show up differently in different situations and contexts.

All of these parts are useful, and no one part of us is more important than another. They all operate from the same whole.

Even the parts of us that feel more separate, painful, or challenging, are still worthy of presence and members of a bigger whole.

What if each part of us could inform us about ourselves instead of define us?
Who would we be if our discomfort, identities, or experiences weren't all of who we are?

Is there a part of you — a feeling, experience, physical body area, mindset, or state of being — that could use a reminder today that it’s part of a bigger whole? What does that offer you?

Trust is meeting the unknown with a state of curiosity.

Trust is a connection with our innate support.

Trust is connection.

Trust requires that we lean into connection without necessarily knowing or having a clear reference point yet for what we’re experiencing.

In Alexander Work explorations, you might notice a cultivation of trust in yourself, your structure, your abilities, your movements, and your perceptions.

All of which support you as you go through your life.

Support exists all around you. It is literally the ground below you, and the sky above. What’s it like to trust that in this moment?

When we *allow* movement to happen -- whether through our physical structure or through our lives -- we cultivate a state of non-forcing. By not forcing, we can cultivate a state of ‘non-doing.’

Non-doing isn’t a passive state - it’s actually quite active.
You can do less and get more.

This isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about freeing energy. Forcing less, allowing more.

An allowance to BE as we are allows us to amplify what we do.

What does kindness have to do with alignment?

How we meet our whole self in a given moment contributes to how we orient physically and meet what’s around us.

Offering ourselves a little kindness - perhaps that’s acceptance, forgiveness, or self compassion - can literally change how we orient.

What does kindness look like to you?

What exists around us, nature and our environment, inherently offers us support. We exist in a beautiful plane between gravity, the earth, and the sky. This creates a web of support for us to rest in. Trust is connection to support. And sometimes all it takes is remembering that support is there, even when it doesn’t feel like it. This is the practice.

Come Back To Your Senses

During this overstimulating time, where comparison and not-enoughness are rampant, take a moment to contact something in your environment. Take a breath. See and feel what’s around you. Appreciate the texture of the ground, the presence of this moment, and know you are enough, wherever you are.

More Than Myself

I am now more than myself. Having brought life into this world, I am no longer only me. I have expanded into mother, into a container for more than me. My daughter is an extension of me. Not because I want her to be like me, and not because I own her in any way. Rather, because my heart has grown exponentially, and perhaps a reason for my very existence has been to usher her into the world, to help her become herself, to hope that my love can help her see the light and be her light amidst the chaos of this world. I will forever be more than myself because of her. This is the greatest gift I could imagine. 📸
