AI is everywhere—even in the afterlife. But how do we ensure it connects us to family history and cultural heritage, rather than feeling like an episode of Black Mirror? Thrilled that our lab received a grant from Google to study AI 'generative ghosts' and grateful to the Denver Post for the great write-up!

Congratulations to Hannah Weber, who was our department's Outstanding Senior this year! Graduating magna cm laude after an honor's thesis that investigated how can technology be integrated into the college social scene to promote responsible drinking, Hannah was a wonderful member of our community; congratulations!
"This major is a great mix of [english, psychology, math, and science]––I loved that I would be able to grow both sides of my brain and receive a well-rounded education... Looking back on my four years in the program, this was one of the best decisions I have ever made."

"How you show the visualizations of your data is creative. Ice skating is obviously free-flowing creativity, but there has to be precision when someone is throwing you."
Highlighted today in CU Boulder Today, this CMCI Now story features Information Science senior Joy Weinberg, who sees connections between her major and her competitive figure skating career. She is currently working with Dr. Leysia P***n (with a grant from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) on research related to risk communication during hurricane events. Go figure!
Go Figure
The move from competitive ice skating to studying information science may seem like a leap, but senior Joy Weinberg says the two share key elements: precision, drive and creativity.
