What do you think?
In the past few months I've hosted virtual gatherings with leaders having one of the most important conversations I think we can be having right now.
AI. The future of work. What it means for the people we lead.
A lot of people are predicting doomsday. I get it. I have good friends who've lost jobs. I know students wondering if their major will be relevant once they graduate.
Call me Bible nut but I keep coming back to the ancient tribe of Issachar from 1 Chronicles. Not panic. Not hype. Not hide.
They ask, "๐๐๐๐ฉ ๐๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ช๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฃ'๐ฉ ๐จ๐ค๐ข๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐๐๐ง ๐๐ช๐ฉ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐๐๐ช๐ง๐ ๐ค๐ช๐ฉ?"
What I'm seeing in these conversations is something surprising.
The leaders who are leaning in aren't becoming more tech-focused.
They're becoming more human. More grounded. More clear on what only they can bring that no algorithm ever will.
That's the opportunity inside the crisis.
I wrote about three ways to lead well in this moment. Would love to hear what you think. Danger or opportunity?

The average leader changes jobs 12 times over their career.
It doesnโt have to be 12. You can nail it sooner.
Howeverโฆmost people just have no idea how to find work that actually fits who they are.
When you do, the path leads somewhere worth going โฆfun, freedom, and fulfillment.
Does that resonate with where you are right now?
03/15/2026
AI just claimed another white collar job. Probably someone you know.
And for some of you, this might actually be the push youโve been waiting for.
In years of working with hundreds of leaders, many of them in transition, Iโve watched some of the most talented professionals I know stay stuck in careers that paid well but never really fit. They were good at the job. They just werenโt made for it.
โ
If thatโs you, hereโs what I want you to consider.
โ
Some roles AI canโt touch. Not because theyโre too technical, but because theyโre too human. They require presence. Wisdom. Trust. The kind of thing that only comes from lived experience.
โ
My wife Mindy put it well:
Weโve all drowned in data. But the human factor still carries exponential opportunity, and AI will never close that gap.
โ
Here are 10 worth thinking about:
No algorithm can sit across from a struggling leader and read the room.
Healing requires a human who can truly see another human.
A soul in crisis needs a soul in the room, not a chatbot.
๐๐๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ: Reading whatโs unspoken between two wounded people takes human intuition.
The best teachers believe in you before you believe in yourself.
People give their hearts to causes led by someone whose heart shows up too.
Trust builds face to face. AI canโt knock on a door.
Real scars and a real point of view cut through AI-generated noise.
People pay a premium for what a screen canโt give them.
๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ : Helping families grow takes someone whoโs done the hard work themselves.
โ
These arenโt consolation prizes. Theyโre callings that millions of people need filled, and canโt get from a chatbot.
โ
AI changes things. No question.
If youโve got years of professional experience and youโve never felt fully alive in your work, maybe itโs time to explore what you were actually built for.

The question isnโt whether AI will affect your job.
It will.
The real question is this:
Whatโs already inside you that no algorithm can replace?
Most leaders have spent decades building something. Hard-won wisdom. Deep relationships. The ability to read a room, lead through uncertainty, solve problems others canโt see yet.
That doesnโt disappear when the job does.
Itโs actually the setup.
The shift weโre in right now isnโt just a threat to your career. Itโs an invitation to finally build something around what youโre uniquely equipped to do.
Not what the market assigned you.
What you were made for.
Esther didnโt wait for permission. She stepped into her moment with everything sheโd already become.
Your skills, your story, your experienceโฆthose arenโt leftovers from a career thatโs changing.
Theyโre the foundation for whatโs next.
So hereโs where I want to leave you:
Whatโs the thing you do better than almost anyone and have you ever considered what it would look like to build around that?

The Coaching Pivot: Career Transition Coaching for Corporate Leaders
I just got off a call with a senior executive. Twenty years with a well funded international company. Global teams. Big budgets. Real responsibility. I once saw retirement as a way out. Out of work I didnโt like, not into work I loved.
Sad, right? But also kind of typical.
Then I watched leaders I admired coach into later life because coaching gave them Are they different?
Having worked for 25 years with coaching top leaders and entrepreneurs, I've yet to get to know a leader who wouldnโt love more MEANING AND MONEY.
And leadership and executive coaching creates the flexibility many want NEXT. (Especially if they donโt want to be bored or not have great income)
Personally, Iโve coached leaders while I was in ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐, ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ถ, ๐ ๐ฒ๐

Of course you saw Alysa Liu skate last night.
But did you see her face?
The smile.
The bright eyes.
The pure joy.
The peace.
That look challenged me.
Someone posted, โCan she bottle that joy? Iโd drink it daily.โ Another wrote, โMental health goal: Alysa Liu calm.โ
She once stepped away at sixteen. When she returned, it was not for medals or applause.
She came back for love.
And you could feel it.
Love beats fear. Every time.
Stronger than pressure. Stronger than proving. Stronger than performing.
The best seasons of my life grew from love. The worst came from striving.
So here is the question I am asking myself today. Maybe it is for you too.
What would change if you fell back in love with what you are doing right now?
02/20/2026
Of course you saw her flawless figure skating last night if you watched Alysa Liu โฆbut did you see the look on her face? Her smile, her bright eyes, her outrageous joy? Her peace?
Personally, not only was I captivated, but I was also challenged by something Iโve done wrong in seasons that I now see as wasted and even selfish.
Doing it for LOVE.
One person on X wrote, โCan Alysa Liu sell that joy in a bottle? Iโll buy and drink it every dayโฆ. โTherapist: whatโs your mental health goal?โ another posted. โme: Alysa Liu calm.โ
Alysa once stepped away from skating at sixteen. When she came back it wasnโt to prove anything. Not for a medal. Not for applause. Not for likes, follows or shares.
She returned because she LOVED it. She LOVED the sport. You could see it in her body, her smile, her eyes.
Love is stronger than fear. Always. Stronger than medals, money or accolades.
Especially when youโre doing hard thingsโฆ
Like you are now.
When love drives you, you go all in. You love the challenge. You love the moment. You love the chance to show up fully alive. Outcomes lose their power because your joy already won.
Looking back on my own life the seasons that flourished were the ones fueled by love, not pressure, not proving and definitely not performing.
The othersโฆnot proud of them.
So hereโs the question Iโm asking myself this morning and maybe itโs for even one other FB friend. You?
How can I fall back in love with what Iโm doing right now?
Or like Alysa Liu re-sign up for something I once quit?

What would you pay for a single pill that would cause your memory decline to slow by as much as 40 to 50%? Your sleep to be better? Stroke to decline by as much as 40%? And even add 7 years to your life!?
What would you pay for such a pill?โ
โThat pillโ says my friend author Richard Leider โItโs called purpose...Itโs having something youโre excited to get up and do!โ
Forty years ago, Leider was shocked to learn that many people who retired died within just a few years. Most retirees were neither happy nor healthy, just the opposite!
To get to the bottom of this, Leider interviewed thousands of people who retired and found one thing they said over and over again.
โI wish I had found my purpose. I wish I had defined my purpose earlier in my life and in my leadership.โ
The minority who were thriving had taken action to intentionally solve their equation to find their purpose. Their calling. Calling = Gifts + Passion + Values. โTheyโre using their gifts in something theyโre passionate about and in things that fit their values,โ said Leider.
Are you?
Neuroscience now backs up these findings. When youโre doing things that youโre curious about (passionate about) and fit a bigger purpose, youโre healthier and happier. You live longer and better! And it starts in your mind and emotional health... your hope!
โThe two most important days in this life,โ according to Leider, โare the day youโre born and the day you discover why you were born. You discover your purpose.โ
Forget what you can die for. What can you live for?
