Mackintosh Academy - Boulder

Last week, our Lower School students had an incredible hands-on learning experience exploring body systems through real scientific dissection! 🧠❤️🫁

Our 2nd graders carefully dissected sheep brains as they learned about the nervous system and how the brain controls the body, while our 4th graders explored sheep hearts and lungs to better understand the circulatory and respiratory systems.

As an IB school, we believe students learn best through inquiry, exploration, and authentic experiences. These dissections gave students the opportunity to ask questions, make observations, think critically, and connect classroom learning to the real world in meaningful ways.

We are especially proud to offer opportunities like this in Lower School, helping students build confidence in science, curiosity about the world around them, and a deeper understanding of how the human body works — all through hands-on discovery learning.
