Celebrating Black History Month! struggles and strategies of the past inform our choices now.

Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was an anti-apartheid activist. He spent 27 years in prison for his activism, becoming a global symbol of resistance. He won the Nobel Peace Prize. Mandela played a crucial role in dismantling racist segregation, leading to South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994, when he became the first Black president of South Africa. Known for his commitment to reconciliation, Mandela’s legacy extends beyond having been a political prisoner, beyond his presidency, making him a revered international figure even after his passing. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” —Madiba (his clan name in Xhosa) HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH!!!

A Study Group gives participants a chance to better understand the nature and the extent of racism, which is endemic in US society. Through time, we deepen into reflection, using this book as a springboard. As we deepen, we realize that racism colors all domains -- education, housing, employment, healthcare, policing, policy, social media, entertainment, family relationships and intimate life. 📚📓📕 Join us starting Thurs 10/12 from 12:30-1:30 MT on Zoom at meeting ID 3562009142.
