Chad and our movement room quickly become one of students favorite places on campus. Soon all toddlers will be saying "Chad" when they pace the movement room. He's been creating a special fun and safe space for Jarrow students for over 20 year!

Memoirs from the best job on Earth: seeing children helping children in through our gates each morning is one of my greatest joys. Especially when I remember how that "big" kid had needed so much help themselves when they started. These gifts of a Montessori environment are endless.

A seven-year-old spreads out the golden beads, works through a page of long division, checks her own answers against the key, then moves on to finish her "All About Me" project before lunch. No one hovers. No one interrupts.

That's the work cycle at this age: choose, work through it — sometimes for over an hour — check it yourself, put it away. It looks like freedom. It's actually where concentration, independence, and self-trust get built — one uninterrupted stretch at a time.

That's the beauty of Montessori.
