We’ve seen too many accidents involving young drivers, and we’re committed to teaching your teen how to drive safely and the importance of doing so. Myth: Parking lots are safer because speeds are lower.
Reality: Parking lots are one of the most common places for minor crashes and close calls.
Why?
• Distracted drivers
• Backing vehicles
• Pedestrians
• Limited visibility

MYTH: “Speeding saves a lot of time.”
REALITY: Most drivers overestimate how much time they actually save.
According to a study by AAA Colorado, driving 80 mph instead of 75 mph would require traveling 100 miles just to save about 5 minutes.
For the average driver? Speeding only saves about 26 seconds per day.
Meanwhile, speeding reduces reaction time and increases crash severity, especially for new drivers.
💡 Slow down. Arrive safely. Colorado lost more than 1,200 lives to speeding between 2021 and 2025. Those few extra seconds aren’t worth the risk.
