MOUNTAIN WATER
“Sunlight illuminates Incense Burner Peak, kindling violet smoke;
from afar, a waterfall hangs before the river.
Water flies straight down three thousand feet—
Has the silver stream of our galaxy plunged from highest heaven?”

HAPPY HEART
“I caught the happy virus last night
When I was out singing beneath the stars.
It is remarkably contagious -
So kiss me.”

EMPTINESS
“Understanding emptiness is not about nihilism (that nothing exists), but about freedom from ego, clinging, and fear. By realizing that the self and its suffering are not inherently fixed or solid, one can experience liberation from attachments and experience profound connection and compassion.“

BLUE-GREEN BUDDHA
“Even before the sun itself
hangs, disattached, in the blue air,
I am touched everywhere
by its ocean of yellow waves.”

WIND
“For the sake of listening and wondering, be still,
you, my deep-deep life;
that you may know what the wind means for you,
even before the birches tremble.“

“May all that is unforgiven in you be released.
May your fears yield
Their decpest tranquillities.
May all that is unlived in you Blossom into a future
Graced with love.”
-John O’Donahue

FORGOTTEN THOUGHT
Whatever it is you are struggling to remember,
it is not poised on the tip of your tongue
or even lurking in some obscure corner of your spleen.
It has floated away down a dark mythological river
whose name begins with an L as far as you can recall.”

CHINESE GEOMANCY TALISMAN TO PREVENT GREAT RAINFALL AND WIND
“Cloud formations are associated with the movement of spirits, which are believed to dwell in the mist, emerging suddenly to manifest themselves before human beings. These spiritual contacts could be controlled by the magic power of calligraphy, and manifest their magic power from cloud formations. They are believed to have special powers to enable man to communicate with the spirit world.”
-Laszlo Legeza

From ancient times, Chinese calligraphy has been practiced as a sacred invocation — a meeting of brush, ink, and awareness. It invites us to meet life directly, with an open and fearless heart, allowing something beyond intention to emerge. As Wang Yu wrote during the Six Dynasties, “the brush stops, and something else suddenly appears.”

“Ordinary Mind”
An unnoticed corner of the world suddenly becomes noticed, and when you notice something clearly and see it vividly, it becomes sacred.
