Welcome to the Department of Integrative Physiology where we study how the body works. Our teaching and research programs focus on the science of function in living systems with an emphasis on the role of physical activity in human health and function across the lifespan and the responses of different organisms to various forms of stress. Buffs All In is CU Boulder’s annual giving campaign, running from March 1 to March 31, 2026. This campus-wide event celebrates the impact of philanthropy by highlighting CU stories and encouraging our community to give back. Last year, Buffs All In raised $1.2 million with 2,750 participating.

Congratulations to Sam Ruzzene, a member of the DeSouza Lab, on winning a 2025 Astronaut Award.
It is a highly competitive and arduous process, not only the internal selection to be nominated by CU but nationally for selection. Sam was recognized by the University in November.

With Nutrition, opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fueling station operations & be exposed to meal planning, hydration strategies, supplement education, and more!
