The Spivey Consulting Group was formed in 2012 by Mike Spivey, whose professional career as a senior administrator at three of the top law schools in the nation provides him with a wealth of experience in the legal education and employment arenas. For years, Spivey has counseled hundreds of prospective students on gaining admission to law school and over a thousand law students on employment strategies. All the while, Spivey saw a growing amount of misinformation, mistakes and neglect in how prospective students apply to law school, how law students search for jobs, and how law schools have adapted to the rapid change in legal education. Your stats aren’t the whole story 👀 A law school predictor might tell you that you have a 57% chance of admission, but that number can’t account for your essays, recommendations, work experience, character and fitness, or the many other factors that make your application unique.

The same goes for rankings. A school being ranked a few spots higher doesn’t automatically make it the better choice for you. Look beyond the numbers and consider outcomes, cost, fit, and the experiences of current students and alumni.

Mistake #4: relying too heavily on predictor sites and rankings when deciding where to apply. 🎓⚖️
